History

Early Life[]

Aaron Davis and Jefferson Davis (Earth-1610B) from Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse 001

Aaron and Jeff in their younger years

Aaron Davis grew up in Brooklyn with his brother Jeff, growing close to him and tagging walls with graffiti together. As they grew up, Jeff became a police officer, while Aaron continued his criminal activities, using a purple gadget-enhanced suit to become the mercenary known as "The Prowler". He came to work for the Kingpin, acting as his enforcer and becoming a frequent enemy of the wall-crawling superhero Spider-Man, battling him on several occasions and gaining infamy across New York City.

In his personal life, Aaron and Jeff drifted apart due to their differing ideologies, though Jeff was unaware of the severity of Aaron's crimes. In 2004, Jeff had a son, Miles Morales, a friendly and nervous kid who Aaron formed a close bond with. Despite Jeff's disapproval, Aaron encouraged Miles' passion for art as he got older and even helped him put up graffiti across the city, never revealing his identity as the Prowler.[1]

Battle for Kingpin's Collider[]

In 2018, the Kingpin partnered with Alchemax to use a powerful super-collider to tear open the multiverse and acquire variants of his dead wife and son. The Prowler was assigned to protect the collider from Spider-Man, and indeed, when he came to shut down the collider to prevent it from potentially destroying Brooklyn, the Prowler battled Spider-Man with the Green Goblin, restraining him to allow the Kingpin to test the collider.

Chasing the witness

The test was disrupted when the Goblin forced Spider-Man into the collider's particle beam, causing a massive explosion and bringing in five extra-dimensional spider-like heroes to their dimension, including an older Spider-Man and a young Spider-Woman. When the dust settled, the Kingpin found the original Spider-Man and killed him with a single blow, causing a witness at the crime scene to run away. The Prowler chased the witness over the next two days, eventually leading him to Queens, where he and Kingpin's goons found him, now hiding in a Spider-Man mask, with the other spider heroes.

Aaron dies in front of Miles

Discovering that the witness had been bitten by a radioactive spider that gave him abilities similar to Spider-Man, the Prowler chased him to stop him from disrupting the collider again. When the Prowler finally caught him and prepared to finish him off, the witness unmasked himself as Aaron's nephew, Miles. Shocked and horrified, Aaron refused to go through with killing him, and so the Kingpin shot Aaron from a nearby car. Miles raced away with Aaron to an alleyway, but he was already bleeding out. He apologized to Miles and told him to be better than he was, before dying in Miles' arms.[1]

Legacy[]

Aaron's memorial

Aaron Davis' death fueled Miles' decision to finally become the new Spider-Man and stop Kingpin's collider. The tragedy of losing Aaron also brought Miles and Jeff closer together, and the two dedicated a mural to him after the disaster was over. Miles would never forget his uncle, nor the lessons he taught him, and went on to turn the Spider-Man identity into Brooklyn's resident superhero to honor his memory.[1]

A year after Aaron's death, Spider-Man went on a journey across the multiverse to stop a villain known as the Spot from gaining more power. When the Spot used a super-collider on Earth-50101B to become a godlike being, he returned to Earth-1610B to decimate Brooklyn as a way to get back at Spider-Man for causing the accident that gave him his powers and disfigured him. Miles attempted to follow him, but instead wound up on Earth-42, a world without a Spider-Man, where Jeff had died instead of Aaron, and Miles became the Prowler. This Aaron was much colder and angrier, as was this Miles, and they captured Earth-1610B's Miles and threatened him with death.[2]

Paraphernalia

Equipment

Seemingly those of the Aaron Davis of Earth-1610. However, his suit is not completely bullet-proof - Kingpin was able to fatally shoot him somewhere that the suit did not protect him.
