From the Midrash (Pesikta DeRav Kahana 3:1) it seems that Hashem forgave Amalek, based on the Torah saying that "you shall not abhor the Edomite" (Devarim 23:8).

The question is: how can this be? If at the end of Parashas Beshalach and Parashat Ki Teitzei it says that we must wipe out the memory of Amalek, and Hashem swore to destroy Amalek ״מדור דור״, and the same Midrash (ibid 3:16) says that Hashem will never accept converts from Amalek?
