We are excited to announce that Nabla will be rolled out at Carle Health through our Epic integration! After a successful pilot program, Nabla will be implemented across Carle Health’s Illinois-based multi-specialty physician group practice and gradually expanded to 1,500 Carle Health providers throughout the year. Clinicians will use the integrated version of Nabla within Epic on their desktop or mobile devices, experiencing the full value of our ambient AI. To date, 55% of Carle Health providers have saved at least 1 hour in documentation time with Nabla, allowing them to spend more face-to-face time with patients. We are grateful to Caleb Miller Mira McLain David Lovinger Suzanne Sampson, MBA PMP, FACHE and the team at Carle Health with whom we collaborated on our Epic integration. Read more about the roll out and #Epic integration through the link in the comments.

Meet Grégoire Retourné - Machine Learning Engineer at Nabla! Grégoire works at the intersection of our Core team and the EHR integration team. His primary goal is to ensure Nabla integrates smoothly with the EHR systems used by our health system partners. Greg's role involves directly supporting customers during the integration process and enhancing clinical notes with AI-driven features. 🎓 Greg graduated from École polytechnique and ENSAE, where he specialized in computer vision and data science. 🩺 He joined Nabla to apply cutting-edge AI and software engineering to a mission that makes a meaningful difference in society. 🤍 Grégoire says what he enjoys the most about working at Nabla is “The versatility of my role at Nabla, from customer interactions to deep coding, and witnessing the tangible impact we make on doctors' lives.” 👨🏻💻 Exciting technical challenge he faces: “Successful integration with EHR partners requires both products to be equally sophisticated. I am constantly exploring ways to implement efficient and scalable updates across systems, with the aim of enhancing our clinicians' documentation experience.” ✨ Story time: This year, a highlight for Greg was his trip to Iowa City to meet with one of our health system partners. A local doctor invited him over for a typical Iowan dinner, giving them a chance to bond and connect beyond just work. 🩺 Physician Burnout Rate Drops Below 50% for First Time in 4 Years! We were thrilled to read the key findings from AMA’s Organizational Biopsy® Survey, which revealed the following: • Job satisfaction: Increased from 68% in 2022 to 72.1% in 2023 • Burnout: Down to 48.2%, from 53% in 2022 • Job stress: Decreased to 50.7% from 55.6% in 2022 Despite these improvements, there remains a critical need for more nurses, medical assistants, and documentation assistance to further reduce physician workload. Notably, 12.7% of respondents cited administrative tasks as a major source of job stress. “We are seeing differences among organizations that have been focused on interventions to drive positive changes in workflow or workload such as improving inbox management or redesigning workflows to optimize team delegation,” said Nancy Nankivil, director of organizational well-being at the AMA. Hopefully, Nabla and ambient AI contributed just a little bit to this positive change. Let's continue working towards a more supportive and balanced work environment for healthcare professionals! Meet Ruben Stern - Machine Learning Engineer at Nabla! As a member of the Core team, Ruben works on training our speech-to-text model, improving the quality of clinical notes, and collaborates closely with our product team to develop additional customization features on Nabla. Ruben is involved in our ML roadmap from start to finish, ensuring clinicians continue to get a top-notch experience with Nabla. 🎓 Ruben graduated from Ecole Polytechnique and NYU with a Master’s degree in Data Science. 🩺 He joined Nabla to contribute to a product that positively impacts healthcare, helping doctors spend more time with their patients. 🤍 Ruben says what he enjoys the most about working at Nabla is “Reading doctors describe our product as a game changer and getting to work with a talented and supportive team that I can learn from.” 👩🏻💻 Exciting technical challenge he faces: Working on adding features that allow doctors to customize the notes to their needs — according to specialty, note templates, level of detail, style, or custom instructions. The primary challenge is to continually improve the quality of notes while expanding the customization options. 🎤 Funny story: Among other things Ruben did to improve our speech to text, he spent several days in the office with a microphone asking everyone to read sentences with medical terms and building a medical dataset. We are a team of entrepreneurs, physicians and engineers committed to bringing back joy to the practice of medicine. How can physicians reduce "pajama time"? In a recent AMA article, Dr. C. Becket Mahnke, MD, Chief Medical Information Officer at Confluence Health, shared several strategies that have significantly decreased physicians' EHR-related workloads and improved work-life balance, particularly by optimizing patient portal messages. Some of the steps include: reordered message options, added self-service options, routing to pools, MyChart user guide, auto-closing of message strings, online scheduling and filtering out “thank you” messages. As a result, family physicians and internists at Confluence Health experience 67% less "pajama time" compared to the national average, reducing burnout rates from 41% to 26%.
