🇪🇺 Happy to share that we have recently received confirmation for our third #EuropeanUnion grant through one of the EU's research and innovation support schemes 🏅 The project’s main goal is the determination of the optimal cultivation conditions of a specific #microalgae species for the production of high-value bioactive compounds. The programme's funding comes from the European Social Fund+ and the Federal State of #Brandenburg. 💥 We are thrilled to announce two amazing additions to the Quazy Foods leadership team: Please join us in welcoming Dr. Sabine Oldemeyer as Chief of Staff and Dr. Carla Lopes Graça who will lead the company’s product strategy! 👏 With over 20 years of #microalgae and #foodtech know-how between them, Sabine and Carla are set to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and contribute to our ongoing success. Sabine holds a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry and brings over a decade of valuable research experience in microalgae from highly renowned institutions. Positioned at the centre of strategic projects, goals, and communication, Sabine will play a pivotal role in our growth. Carla holds a PhD in Food Science and Technology and will support us in an operational consulting capacity, guiding the product team and leading product strategy. Her wealth of experience encompasses downstream processes, development of alternative proteins products from bench-top testing to scale-up level, and commercialisation strategies working alongside global leaders in the food industry. What is #fermentation and which role can it play in human #nutrition? The first German Fermentation Summit by Food Harbour Hamburg and Food Campus Berlin shed light on status quo, challenges, and potential of traditional fermentation, biomass fermentation, and precision fermentation for food and feed. What many people don't know: #microalgae can be produced heterotrophically, meaning via fermentation. A huge advantage of this method of cultivation over traditional ones is the high degree of efficiency. Quazy Foods takes this route and converts these highly versatile and sustainable microorganisms into functional ingredients, allowing food producers to switch to healthy #cleanlabel products. Thanks a lot to Jochen Matzer, Stefanie Ostendorf, Jörg Reuter, and everyone else involved in the organization of this outstanding summit! It was a pleasure having the chance to elaborate on the question where we are standing and heading in terms of microalgae on our plates. Last week, Berenike (Nixe) Zimmer attended the AlgaEurope conference in the wonderful city of Prague. The event was packed with insightful presentations around science, technology, and business in the algae biomass sector.
