The programme's funding comes from the European Social Fund+ and the Federal State of #Brandenburg. What is #fermentation and which role can it play in human #nutrition? The first German Fermentation Summit by Food Harbour Hamburg and Food Campus Berlin shed light on status quo, challenges, and potential of traditional fermentation, biomass fermentation, and precision fermentation for food and feed. What many people don't know: #microalgae can be produced heterotrophically, meaning via fermentation. A huge advantage of this method of cultivation over traditional ones is the high degree of efficiency. Quazy Foods takes this route and converts these highly versatile and sustainable microorganisms into functional ingredients, allowing food producers to switch to healthy #cleanlabel products. Thanks a lot to Jochen Matzer, Stefanie Ostendorf, Jörg Reuter, and everyone else involved in the organization of this outstanding summit! It was a pleasure having the chance to elaborate on the question where we are standing and heading in terms of microalgae on our plates. Quazy Foods is on a mission to unleash the potential of microalgae and is committed to develop healthy, sustainable and competitive functional ingredients. We believe in the need for more clean-label and delicious plant-based alternatives to traditional foods and Quazy Food’s ingredients are an enabler for food producers to meet the needs of the conscious consumer. They were able to raise more than €800K for this round, with contributions from ProVeg International, Antler, us and a number of highly engaged business angels. Furthermore, Quazy Foods is also supported by the European Union through different research and innovation support schemes, namely the Horizon 2020 program and the European Regional Development Fund.
