Oversight & Accountability

Throughout our nation’s history, Americans serving inside and outside of Congress have shed light on injustice and fought for a government that works for working people. The role of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability is to provide a check and balance on power in Washington and ensure good governance.

As a Democratic member of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, we have a responsibility to tell the truth in the face of partisan, politically-motivated investigations and hearings. Instead of devoting taxpayers’ resources to attack middle-class federal employees or hold hearings on baseless claims, our Committee should be focused on true accountability and investigating corruption. In previous years, the Oversight Committee has focused on issues that have a real impact on Americans’ lives, such as stopping gun violence, ending the overdose crisis, holding billionaire tax cheats accountable, and protecting consumers from corporate price gouging. The committee should return to focusing on issues such as these.
