Child Care
It’s time for Congress to provide solutions for families and win truly universal and affordable child care for everyone. I am working to support the learning and growth of children, make sure families can afford high quality child care, and adequately compensate and support child care workers. We can pass legislation that limits child care costs to 7% of any family’s income. Right now, we know Texans spend far, far more than this, and that has to change.
I also believe in providing child care to our military families. That’s why I’m the author of an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act that would give the Department of Defense the authority to appropriate funds from programs or weapons that it deems unnecessary to instead fund child care programs for military families.
