Yes. The BellSouth Installation CD and/or the Connection Manager are not required to install or connect the BellSouth supplied Westell 2100/2200/6100 to the Internet when connected as an Ethernet modem. The install CD contains various applications that are not required (and some consider bloatware) including a BellSouth branded Internet Explorer. Important Note: This procedure is for existing accounts or new accounts that already have an assigned username and password. If you have a new account and have not registered or been provided a username and password, please click here. If you require USB connectivity (avoid at all costs, if possible) you must use the Installation CD or download the driver from the BellSouth Support Site. Follow the instructions on the Installation CD for USB connectivity.

Step 1
Make sure your NIC is set to "Obtain an IP address automatically". Press the reset button on the back of the modem (your modem may look slightly different). Completely power down the modem and computer. Connect the Westell directly to the PC's NIC with a straight thru CAT5 cable and power up the modem and then the computer. Press the reset button on the back of the modem. Remember, do not plug anything into the USB port!



Step 2
Open a browser session and enter "192.168.1.254" or "launchmodem" in the address field.



Step 3
This step is dependent on your specific Westell model number and firmware.

Westell 6100 Procedure: Enter your BellSouth Username followed by "@bellsouth.net" in the User ID field. Enter your BellSouth Password in the Password field. Re-enter your BellSouth Password in the Confirm Password field. Click on Next. Update the Auto Calender Update Configuration as desired and click Next. The modem will try to initiate a session and then return to the main menu.

Westell 2100 or 2200 Procedure: Click on Easy Login from the menu. Enter your BellSouth Username followed by "@bellsouth.net" in the User ID field. Enter your BellSouth Password in the Password field. Re-enter your BellSouth Password in the Confirm Password field. Click on Connect. The modem will try to initiate a session and then return to the main menu.

Step 4
You are finished. If you get an connection error message go back and make sure your username and password are correct and click Connect again.
