Netflix Cancels Five Projects, Including Three Adult Animated Series

‘Agent Elvis,’ ‘Farzar,’ and ‘Captain Fall’ have been canned after one season each, joined by the dark fantasy novel adaptation ‘Shadow and Bone’ and the Kim Cattrall-led ‘Glamorous.’

What’s the deal with adult animated series at Netflix? The streamer confirmed to AWN that it has canceled five projects, including the adult animated series Agent Elvis, Farzar, and Captain Fall. All three animated shows ran for only one season. The dark fantasy novel adaptation Shadow and Bone and the Kim Cattrall-led Glamorous were also unceremoniously canceled.

Captain Fall, from the creators of the brilliant live-action satire Norsemen, was originally slated for 20 episodes to air in two parts. However, the second part will no longer air after failing to deliver a large enough audience. And Agent Elvis, with Matthew McConaughey's inspired casting as the King himself, featured beautifully stylized animation by Titmouse, with Presley's iconic look designed by Oscar nominee Robert Valley and Agent Elvis’ wardrobe designed by legendary fashion designer John Varvatos. Plus... it's the King! As a government agent!

Sources close to Variety whisper the decision is largely due to the months-long WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the impact of which is only starting to be assessed. Sigh...

On the brighter side, renewals have been ordered for One Piece; Ginny & Georgia; Outer Banks; The Lincoln Lawyer; XO, Kitty; Heartstopper; The Night Agent; The Diplomat; FUBAR; Sweet Magnolias, and Castlevania: Nocturne.
