I've been taking Filipino martial arts here since i moved back into the area in 2021. The people are amazing, the cost of classes is the lowest I've seen. (I've been doing Kali for a long time and have had to pay triple what they charge). I love all the coaches and the community here is really great. The gym is super supportive and coming every week has been a big highlight to my weeks.

Absolutely amazing gym culture. Everyone here is super friendly and always willing to lend a helping hand when you're training. The classes are a combination of a ton of useful self-defense and great workouts! Cannot recommend enough!

The smartest decision I ever made.
I have been attending this gym for almost a year now. Classes are frequent and at times convenient to all schedules. The instruction is top notch and you will not only get a great workout, but you will learn life saving techniques to get yourself out of trouble. The gym is pretty basic - think no a/c or heat. Train like you fight.
They offer Krav Maga, Jiu Jitsu, and Filipino Martial arts (think stick/knife fighting - which is my favorite :)). It's no nonsense, get it done type of training. This isn't training for martial arts sports, you're training to end the fight and get out of the situation. In addition to the classes (almost 7 days a week), you can participate in sparring on Saturday mornings. No invite needed, just show up and feel what it's like to fight someone fighting you rather than a willing victim that you get during the week during training. There is gear you can borrow for the day, but I highly recommend getting your own as soon as possible. There really is no other way to learn to fight than with someone that's uncooperative. This gives you a chance to try a new things that you've learned to see it in action in real-life.
You'll love it!Helpful 0Thanks 1Love this 2Oh no 0 - Tiffany H.Falls Church, VA1176688Aug 12, 2018
Been here about a year now and it's great - offers Krav Maga, jiu jitsu and Filipino kali for a verrrrry reasonable cost (unlimited classes per month). There's some great and skilled instructors and a welcoming group of people which is a good mix of females and men from various backgrounds.
Some tips - there's no ac but they have box fans so it can get hot in the building which is a part of the experience so bring lots of ice water! Parking in the evening you can park in front of the school, across the street where the bike shop and frame shop is, or at the church.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Austin W.Alexandria, VA01Jan 11, 2020
I am so glad that I decided to start training with KravWorks and can't recommend it enough. From my very first class, everyone has been incredibly welcoming and helpful. The instructors are all great and the other students have treated me like one of the group from day one. I've never had an awkward moment of not being able to find a training partner. Classes are diverse, from active duty military to mothers attending with their daughters, so no matter who you are, you will not feel out of place.
I came in with no prior martial arts experience and consider myself relatively uncoordinated, but have never felt like I'm out of my depth or overwhelmed with new material. The Basic Training modules offered on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday are fantastic for working on fundamentals with a manageable pace that doesn't throw too much at you in too short of period of time. Within a few weeks of attending regularly, I started having confidence in my ability to perform some of the basics because I was given consistent opportunities to review and practice material I had acquired in previous classes.
Each class is different and engaging, with more advanced topics like dealing with knives and guns sprinkled in alongside basic strikes, kicks, and defenses. Everything is focused on providing you practical self-defense skills, with the instructors explaining how whatever we're covering might apply in a real world situation. Training with KravWorks has given me increased confidence that I could handle myself should I ever find myself in dangerous circumstances. If you've been considering giving Krav Maga a try, don't wait any longer, stop by KravWorks for one of the Basic Training sessions and give it a try!Helpful 1Thanks 1Love this 0Oh no 0 - Aina A.Rockville, MD5011Jul 24, 2017
I love this place so far! I'm new to krav, and new to this place, and everyone is attentive. Effie is awesome, and takes the time to explain things to me, even when I ask him twice. It's a great mix of males and females, most in their 20's and 30's, and all are excited and want to learn. The more "senior" students who have been there a while are willing to help you, and explain movements to you.
I was afraid of trying because I'm a petite female, and didn't want to be "roughed up" or "gently managed" by larger guys, but it's not been the case for me. I haven't had issues with people either being too rough, or not tough enough. It's a great place to go to, and I'm glad I chose this place over others.
I signed up for another institution a year ago, and ultimately decided they were not the fit for me, but KravWorks is exactly what I need--a friendly learning environment at such reasonable cost.
They also give a discount to students or federal employees of 10%, which is such a nice little perk.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Huy T.Fairfax, VA3121Jul 13, 2021
Self defense is something that I've always wanted to learn and I'm so glad I gave it a shot. I reached out through their main website and got a prompt reply with all the information I needed. They offer a 2 weeks trial for you to try the classes and see if it's a good fit. It's a great workout and an even better training environment.

I have been coming to this studio about six months now and I don't have anything negative to say aside from the fact I wish they had bigger fans for the summer weather. I have only taken Krav Maga classes, but the students are welcoming, patient, and happy to offer pointers. There is a pretty flexible schedule and all three of the Krav instructors I have had were very good.
The classes I've attended are very diverse, many different ages, equal mix of men and women, and varying levels of athletic ability. I, myself, had no background in martial arts or self defense, but picked this up as another cardio routine for my workout. Nobody gives you a hard time if you need to scale down warm-up exercises for your abilities. When I first tried out the studio two women who've been coming for years told me it was okay if I couldn't keep up on the push-ups, which was a relief because I am terrible at push-ups. But I have gradually gotten much better.
I did try out two studios before settling on Krav Works. I liked the people at Krav Works better. It wasn't quite as intense as the other studio and I felt at the other studio that I would get hurt before I learned anything. I don't feel that way about Krav Works.
One thing to note is that their parking lot is very small and directly in front of the building, so people tend to double-park. There is street parking available on surrounding roads, and some diagonal spots at the business across the street if you arrive after 6PM weeknights.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Erika K.Falls Church, VA641612Dec 16, 2016
I recently joined Krav Works with no previous martial arts experience, but it didn't matter at all! The beginners classes are great, and I've already learned so much after taking just a few classes. The instructors help you along the way and all the students are welcoming and accepting. A lot of people filter in and out, and sometimes they forget who the newbies are, so if you don't know how to do something, just shout out to an instructor and he will happily show you.

Great owners. Everyone seems to be in it for the right reasons. The gym let's you come to as many (or as few) classes per month as you would like once you join. There is no pressure at all during the trial period. The instructors have the credentials, but everyone is still approachable and friendly. Oh, and if you come, you will get in shape.
