How To Cope with Depression and Continue With Life

By: Abbas Abedi

Have you reached a point in your life where you are ready to give up and just quit living? Have you felt so much pain and sadness that you do not want to continue anymore? If so, then you may be facing depression, the intense sadness that can cripple your mind and your body.

Depression is something that can be felt by anybody who is not emotionally strong enough to handle extreme pain and anguish either in a single or a gradual blow. You may feel so alone.

But there is a cure for depression. People currently in that state can still come out of it victorious and free. The path may be long and tedious, but the results can be incredible.

To conquer depression, first, try to take hold of yourself. Look at the beauty of life and what it can still bring you. There is too much beauty that depressed people often fail to see. The first step to victory is to realize that life is not over—even if a life-shattering incident makes it seem that way.

You need all the help and support you can get from friends and family members. Somebody should always be available to lead you out of your mental and emotional cage.

Realize that there is a better view of things—that you can always choose to be happy. You need to remember that life will continue no matter how bad things are.

As a depressed individual, you can be non-responsive to other people and to anything else. It is possible that you may be too disagreeable. People need to be aware of these normal tendencies when dealing with you.

While you are depressed, you may require more care and attention. You will need the people around you to be tolerant of your situation and what you are going through. Remember that depression is merely a phase. With enough will power and determination, you will be able to get through it.

Most of the time, what you feel is somehow different than what you think. During these instances, what you need is mind control coupled with an enormous power of suggestion. Then the doing and thinking will come together, helping you to achieve your goal of breaking free from depression.

Do not prolong depression. If and when you feel that you are not strong enough to conquer your problems and all your friends' help is not adequate to take you further, there are professional people who can help. Do not be afraid to go to them. They can readily lend a hand.

Depression is a major problem. There are people who are really susceptible to it. Coping with depression may not be easy but it can be done successfully.
