immediate effects that these have on your blood sugar levels is self-monitoring, therefore the use of a
glucometer. Thanks to this tool you have the possibility to promptly receive information that helps you to
intervene in the most appropriate way, bringing or keeping your blood sugar levels as close as possible to
the reference values indicated by your doctor. Currently, blood glucose meters are used to measure and
control blood glucose. Diabetes is a fairly complex disease and it is important for those who suffer from it
to check their blood sugar (blood sugar) periodically throughout the day to prevent dangerous
complications. Many children newly diagnosed with diabetes and their families may face unique challenges
when dealing with the everyday management of diabetes, including treatments, adapting to dietary
changes, and the routine monitoring of blood glucose. Many questions may also arise when selecting a
blood glucose meter for paediatric patients. With current blood glucose meters, even with multiple daily
self-tests, high and low blood glucose levels may not be detected. Key factors that may be considered when
selecting a meter include accuracy of the meter; size of the meter; small sample size required for testing;
ease of use and easy-to-follow testing procedure; ability for alternate testing sites; quick testing time and
availability of results; ease of portability to allow testing at school and during leisure time; easyto- read
numbers on display; memory options; cost of meter and supplies. In this study we will show a new
automatic portable, non-invasive device and painless for the daily continuous monitoring (24 hours a day)
of blood glucose in paediatric patients.

This paper deals with the development of a non-invasive system for continuous measurement of blood glucose concentration levels, using near infrared light of suitable wavelength. Glucose determination using near infrared can be done by taking measurement of transmitted light through human body. This device may become very useful while conducting glucose tolerance test (GTT). In glucose tolerance test, patient should be given a measured dose of glucose solution to drink and blood is drawn at intervals of half an hour or one hour for two to four hours. This requires five to nine finger pricking for measurement of glucose concentration. By using this proposed device pricking can be reduced to one. First the glucose concentration is measured using conventional method for calibration. Then by comparing with the first sample measurement subsequent values can be determined without further pricking. Abstract
Achievement of well-controlled blood glucose is essential for preventing complications in patients with type 1
diabetes. Since the inception of continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion, the aim has been to develop an
artificial pancreas, with the ability to use an automated algorithm to deliver one or more hormones in response
to blood glucose with the intent to keep blood sugar as close to a prespecified target as possible. Development
and rapid improvement of continuous glucose sensor technology has recently allowed swift progress toward a
fully closed-loop insulin delivery system. In 2017, Medtronic began marketing the 670G insulin pump with
Guardian 3 sensor. When in auto mode, this is a hybrid closed-loop insulin delivery system that automatically
adjusts basal insulin delivery every 5 min based on sensor glucose to maintain blood glucose levels as close to a
specific target as possible. Patients receive prandial insulin by entering carbohydrate amount into the bolus
calculator. Early studies show improvement in HbA1c in both adults and adolescents with this technology.
Initial safety trials showed no occurrence of diabetic ketoacidosis or hypoglycemia. The utility of this device is
limited by blood glucose targets of 120 and 150 mg/dL that are unacceptably high for some patients. Not-
withstanding recent advances, we are far from a system that is able to replicate islet function in the form of a
fully automated, multihormonal blood glucose control device.

Introduction
People with type 1 diabetes mellitus face a perpetualuphill battle in achieving optimal glycemic control. The
fine line between preventing hypoglycemia and avoiding
complications from hyperglycemia is challenging to navigate.
Our objective is to describe the history of continuous sub-
cutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) and continuous glucose
monitor (CGM) and how these components allowed the de-
velopment of the first commercially available ‘‘artificial pan-
creas’’ (AP), although many would prefer the nomenclature of
‘‘closed-loop insulin delivery.’’ We then go on to describe
practicalities of the initial hybrid closed-loop (HCL) insulin
delivery system released by Medtronic.
Since the first use of CSII in the late 1970s, real-time
CGM in the early 2000s, and the eventual sensor-augmented
pump and ‘‘low-glucose suspend’’ after that, the obvious
next step was further integration between the two for a
closed-loop system, which ideally would require minimal
interaction from the patient. The accuracy of the sensors has
only recently become adequate to safely move this tech-
nology forward.

In this talk, we focus on addressing the high latency issues associated with S3 storage in stream processing systems that employ a decoupled compute and storage architecture. We delve into the root causes of latency in this context and explore various techniques to minimize the impact of S3 latency on stream processing performance. Our proposed approach is to implement a tiered storage mechanism that leverages a blend of high-performance and low-cost storage tiers to reduce data movement between the compute and storage layers while maintaining efficient processing.
Throughout the talk, we will present experimental results that demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach in mitigating the impact of S3 latency on stream processing. By the end of the talk, attendees will have gained insights into how to optimize their stream processing systems for reduced latency and improved cost-efficiency.

- 3. What Does Google Lens Do? Monitor glucose level from tears by using sensors. Transmit data via antenna to the users mobile device. Provide a trend – continuous glucose level reading per 1 second. LED lights to warn users when their glucose levels dangerously exceed too high or fall too low.
- 4. EXISTING SYSTEM The traditional method of using a lancing(pricking) device is disruptive and painful and needs to be done repeatedly throughout the day PROPOSED SYSTEM The project aims to assist people with diabetes by consistently measuring the glucose level in their tears.
- 5. ADVANTAGES OF SMART LENS It is a simple and painless method. Continues glucose monitoring Mobility to users – wearable system can be integrated with life cycle. Accurate reading – ensures efficiency and safe use. Reusable (cost effective solution)
- 6. FUTURE ENHANCEMENT New service can be derived with the use of this lens which opens up new opportunities. Remote monitoring of glucose level. Possibility of insurance compliance . Valuable data collection. Real time insulin dosage adjustment.
- 7. CONCLUSION Google contact lens is a smart contact lens project announced by Google on 16th January 2014. The lens will be able to people with diabetes by closely and consistently monitoring the glucose levels in their tears. The research has proven that the contact lens method is less painful and time consuming for diabetics than the traditional methods.
