Mobile is now everywhere and it is forcing its way into the enterprise. The future is in creating great experiences which multi-channel. Building a great experience is very challenging, particularly in the mobile medium. A solid understanding of usability and the implementation of a pragmatic UX design process is key for a successful application.
UI and UX design are related fields that both aim to improve the customer experience. UI design focuses on the visual design and layout of interfaces, while UX design takes a more analytical approach to understanding user needs and improving usability. Both fields involve iterative testing and design improvements based on user research. Key aspects of UX design include user-centered design, information architecture, interaction design, and usability testing, while UI design principles emphasize consistency, minimal surprises, and user guidance.
The burgeoning use of mobile devices has created enormous opportunities for organizations to leverage mobile to increase sales, advertise products, and collaborate with internal and external resources. However, with increasing usage, the need to perform testing on these devices is increasing significantly. This is not an easy task considering the number of devices, device operating systems, and operating system versions. To manage the number of variations, organizations rely on mobile testing tools to support their testing efforts. David Dang shares his experiences analyzing numerous mobile testing tool platforms for a prominent shopping network. Learn how identifying the "right" mobile testing tool depends on multiple factors such as supported devices, level of testing, resources, and required integration with other tools. Take back to share with your team a review of common tools on the market and the pros and cons of each.
This document discusses usability testing and related methodologies. It provides information on what usability testing is, how it is conducted, and factors to consider when deciding which methodology to use. Specifically, it notes that usability testing involves systematically observing users under controlled conditions to determine how well they can use a product. When conducting a test, key steps include recruiting representative participants, creating tasks, observing users without guidance, and analyzing the results to identify issues. The goal is to identify problems and improve the user experience.

This study examines the effect of smartphone brand satisfaction on purchasing other smart devices of the same brand. It develops a research model based on the Expectation-Confirmation Model in IT, which suggests that expectation-confirmation affects brand user experiences like perceived usefulness, perceived playfulness, and perceived aesthetics. These user experiences then impact brand usage satisfaction and intention to purchase other smart devices. The study aims to confirm these relationships and whether smartphone usage experience can influence purchasing other brand devices. It develops measurement scales and collects data from 583 smartphone users to test the research model through confirmatory factor analysis and structural equation modeling.
When I started my new job, most of my colleagues didn't clearly understand UX. I created this introduction to User Experience so they would understand why UX is important in design; how I would collaborate with the team; what I would contribute to our projects; and typical activities and artefacts I would do. My colleagues found this information helpful so that they know how to engage me for design and strategic questions about good UX-fu. This is a smaller, modified version for Barcamp 4 in Auckland, New Zealand.

To engage mobile app users, companies should define a strategy, develop the right app using hybrid technology and business intelligence, engage customers, provide a consistent user experience, and ensure user security. Business intelligence is important for the proper app development strategy and engaging customers, while consistency and security are also essential for retaining users.
This document describes a productivity Android application called PAA (Productivity Android Application) that was developed by students to help control smartphone addiction. The application analyzes a user's phone usage, generates a report on which apps they are addicted to, and then provides notifications to avoid distractions from social media and encourage focus on work/studies. It was created using Android Studio, Java, and PHP. The application notifies users on their home screen when connecting to WiFi/data and allows selecting an app to get a "Go Back" option to continue their task. The goal is to increase productivity by reducing distractions from smartphone notifications.
1) Product development processes often have gaps in knowledge about and engagement with users. Designers struggle to truly understand users and incorporate their perspectives. 2) There are calls to move beyond a user-centered approach to one of user integration, where users are systematically involved throughout the development process. 3) While usability aims to ensure effectiveness, efficiency and satisfaction, the full user experience encompasses emotional responses and involvement that must also be considered in design.

Our existing B2B product has been developed for 15 years and the need for complete redesign was acknowledged in 2013. Unusual for the software business in our country and field of business, this project for the brand new solution was driven by UX from the beginning. The main target was to introduce new level of collaboration between all company functions to formulate a shared vision for the future product. It took us one year to move from user research to prototypes, and in the meantime our UX team grew from two to six persons. Hence, we will also talk a bit about organizing the work of the team to support several products and projects without sacrificing the long-term project. In this session we will share our experiences and lessons-learned from working our way towards that vision with research based top-down approach.
