How To Avoid Sending Selfish "Just Checking In" Follow Up EmailsHubSpot
The document provides tips for avoiding generic "just checking in" follow up emails. It analyzes an example email, identifying four issues: 1) a generic opening with no personalization, 2) admitting to checking in with no value, 3) asking the recipient for information rather than providing it, and 4) a generic call to action rather than a specific next step. It then outlines five steps to send more valuable follow up emails: 1) determine the objective, 2) open with context, 3) clearly state the purpose, 4) provide value to the recipient, and 5) end with a clear next step. Examples are given for different types of follow up emails.

Do Crappy Sales Email Templates Lead To More Revenue?HubSpot

It presents an example of an "awesome" email that shows interest in the prospect's social media activity, connects to business value, and proposes a phone call. In contrast, it shows a "crappy" email with an irrelevant opening and promises without proof. While a crappy email may attract fewer but more consistent prospects, an awesome email could connect with more but close fewer deals. The document suggests testing different email styles to determine which approach works best.
DeVry University Career Advisory Board: What the Most Successful Job Seekers ...DeVry University
In the interest of providing actionable advice to job seekers, the Career Advisory Board set out to discover what candidates who are perceived as the “complete package” are doing in order to secure a desirable job offer. In our Successful Job Seekers research, we surveyed over 550 professionals of varying ages and in different roles and industries. Our respondents had one thing in common: they were either recruited by a desirable company and received an offer without having to search for a new job at all (referred to as passive job seekers), or they received an interview for a job they ultimately accepted less than six months after starting a search (referred to as active job seekers).
The following report summary highlights the results of the research, including that the most effective candidates target, customize, and are organized and realistic about their opportunities. Now that we’ve learned from the best, we aim to educate the general job seeking population on improving job search efficiency and outcomes.

People love the notion of the sole innovator, but this notion is wrong. Successful companies are usually started, and become successful, with the contributions of at least two people. Yin and yang, maker and seller, dreamer and pragmatist — call it what you will. After the fact, people may recognize one founder as the innovator, but it takes a team to make a new venture work.
Derek Sivers, the co-founder of CD Baby, said it best: “The first follower is what transforms the lone nut into a leader.”
In some instances the first follower is the first customer, but most often the first follower is the second employee of a company — that is, the co-founder.
There are few factors that can make a company more successful, fun, and epic than an awesome co-founder. There are few factors that can make a company more unsuccessful, aggravating, and pathetic than an incompetent, lazy, or dishonest co-founder.
This SlideShare explains the art of the picking a co-founder and is part of the LinkedIn Influencer series for #mystartupstory.

20. The cold, hard, truth is that you’ve got to look after yourself. You can’t assume that anyone is really looking out for your best interests (in spite of what they may say.) There may be a human resources department in your firm, managers, coaches and a mentoring system. But don’t get fooled. Your career is up to you and you alone. No one will tell you what experience you should be obtaining, let alone help you get it. If you want a specific experience, ask for it. Better yet, just go grab it. Do not expect that you will be promoted because you deserve it - it is unlikely that anyone is really keeping track. If you want to be promoted, ask to be promoted. Generally, things do not come to those who do not ask for them. None of this means you should be rude, disrespectful to others, or fail to be a team player. It just means don’t be naïve. In spite of what they may say, it’s up to you. You’re on your own, kid. Manage your own career. No one else will. Maister on Self-Responsibility: (http://about.davidmaister.com/bio/)
