Learn more about Syngenta's commitment to accelerating R&D from CEO Jeff Rowe who recently shared about the transformative impact of AI in agriculture at The Wall Street Journal Global Food Forum. "AI is also rapidly accelerating our R&D processes at Syngenta Group. All our research projects to find new active ingredients now use machine learning to optimize molecular design. We think that in the future, AI will cut the average time from discovery to commercialization by a third from 15 years to 10 years." - Jeff Rowe   In vegetable seeds, Ai is being actively integrated into our breeding programs. For example, tomato research at Syngenta Vegetable Seeds is now powered by artificial intelligence (Ai) to capture more data, more accurately, and with more information available now than ever before. #AI #SyngentaVegetables

Embracing innovation is critical to tackling the world’s biggest challenges. This is particularly true for agriculture – where both conflict and climate change are making it incredibly tough to ensure everyone has enough to eat. It was a privilege to talk about this at The Wall Street Journal Global Food Forum in Chicago and speak about the path ahead for agriculture. Weather is the single biggest challenge farmers face, and climate change is delivering more extreme conditions. Just this month in the U.S., we saw blistering temperatures and records broken in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and Baltimore with severe storms and floods in Iowa and South Dakota. While in Asia, parts of India, including New Delhi, battled heatwaves, and in southern China floods damaged hundreds of hectares of crops. Innovation, and increasingly artificial intelligence, are essential in helping to manage these extremes. Across agriculture, areas that adopt new technology are seeing much greater yield stability than those that do not. Droughts today cause less damage to crop harvests than they did 20 years ago, because of improved technology. AI is now also taking on a central role. Precision tools like drones, sensors, satellites, and farm machinery mean a wide range of agronomic data can be collected – allowing AI to generate actionable insights for farmers, their crops, and the environment. AI is also rapidly accelerating our R&D processes at Syngenta Group. All our research projects to find new active ingredients now use machine learning to optimize molecular design. We think that in the future, AI will cut the average time from discovery to commercialization by a third from 15 years to 10 years. This increase in the speed of development is crucial as we work to not only help farmers manage worsening weather extremes, but also cut emissions. To tackle our shared global challenges of food security and climate change, it is essential that countries, governments, organizations, and communities are not only open to new technologies, but also create markets where innovation and collaboration thrive. #FoodSecurity #ClimateChange #Innovation
