Family is the most important thing in the world, and remote work strengthens it. All the other stuff remote work does is great: - Lowering costs - Eliminating commutes - Reducing the importance of office politics - Etc But giving families more time with each other is the best of all. Nothing else comes close.
The effect this has on new mother's ability to return to the workforce after maternity cannot be overstated.
Hate to say this but Covid indirectly changed my relationship with my son for the better. Normalising remote working was a game changer as I am no longer someone who leaves at 7am and comes back home at 8pm, missing sometimes very important events in his life or just the simple interactions at school drop off and pick up.
It's also a game changer for those with disabilities. fur baby parents, those who care about sustainability, those who want a few extra hours of their lives back, those who don't want to incure the expenses of gas/fares/clothing.
I see your point here, but not every job has the capability to be remote. So the other “perks” can still be just as important.
Absolutely, the extra family time remote work provides is priceless!
Adding to above if allowed 😊 🙏 It’s high time we embrace the true purpose of technology: to make our lives easier/ better. 🌟 👉 USING TECHNOLOGY FOR ITS TRUE PURPOSE: Technology should foster better relationships with our families, not just extend work hours. ❤️ 👉 THE FUTURE OF WORK: Thriving businesses will support quality family time. This can address imbalances, where men miss early child development stages due to work and come home drained. If both parents work, they return exhausted, leaving little energy for their kids. 👨👩👧👦 👉 THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY TIME: COVID-19 showed the value of remote work, but it often meant more hours. We should equally distribute high-energy hours between human connections and work. 🏡 👉 ENCOURAGING PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT: Active involvement of both parents benefits children. Flexible work schedules should be permanent. 👫 👉 ADDRESSING GENDER ROLES: Shared responsibilities between men and women are crucial. Companies that prioritize employee well-being and flexible work will lead the future. 🚀 👉 A WAKE-UP CALL: If we ignore family well-being, we risk our future. It’s time to prioritize families alongside work. ⏰ Ideas by Salman / refined by Chatgpt 😊
Couldn't have said it better! Remote work isn't just about productivity, it's about creating a life that works for YOU
Remote work significantly influences family dynamics by offering more time for family interactions, potentially improving children's mental health and academic performance. However, it also presents challenges such as managing work-life boundaries and addressing children's perceptions of work's importance over family time.
Both parents in the house all day… probably means more divorces I used to work with a lovely old boy called Don, he’d retired but used to clean our offices in the morning for pocket/pub money. Every day he’d tell me: “Son, the secret of a long and happy marriage…. Spend as much time apart” Jonathan Graham Tom Parsley Gilly Graham May Don rest in peace.

2dCouldn’t agree more. As the only caregiver for my mom who became disabled after a car accident 20+ years ago, I’ll never go back to an office environment. I started working remotely 03/2020 and her health improved so dramatically. Just popping out to the living room between calls to get her water keeps her hydrated, making sure she takes her pills keeps her conditions stable, and getting her a snack in the middle of the day keeps her nourished. What surprised me most was how my health improved, too. I was constantly anxious and unproductive in the office, but my work quality and quantity skyrocketed at home. It took almost a year to realize that the anxiety improvement was due to undiagnosed sensory processing disorders, my own lack of nutrition from skipping meals/drinks on office days, and of course worrying about how my mom was doing at home alone (daytime caregivers are so expensive!). Working remotely removes so many barriers and lets me be my best.
