Brian J. Quinn’s Post

I am a little late to the Acquired podcasts, but these deep dives into the stories behind our most iconic and successful companies are just amazing. Just finished the Starbucks episode, which is a 3+ hour interview with founder Howard Schultz. He reveals so many facts about Starbucks' early days, e.g. Bill Gates dad helped save the company! If you enjoy business journalism, there is not much better than this.

It’s one of the best podcasts around, each one bringing applicaple ideas to building a business and creating a durable, differentiated offering. In particular, I’ve love the Costco, Hermes and Microsoft episodes. A trove of business strategy in these — well worth the 3 hour deep dive in each.

This one was long but was grt to listen do during my 3hr drive to a lax tourny this weekend. Schultz drops a lot of unheard facts never told before by his own admission. And it is crazy how connected the same power players are in Seattle in the 80s/90s. One of the best podcasts imho.
