Our Translation Team is a small group of individuals that are passionate about their bilingual skills, working to provide excellent translations for the organization to better serve our State Farm customers.. Translators utilize their high level bilingual written skills daily when handling special projects, confidential memos and letters. Translation Team members work in a highly collaborative team environment to ensure established service level objectives are met for each translation assignment.

Location: This position is open to candidates who live within 100 miles of Richardson and in the state of TX. Our Richardson, TX campus is conveniently located near the local transit and we have several restaurants on campus.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to apply advanced communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Accurately translate a wide variety of complex material from source to target language
  • Utilize translation software to automate translations
  • Identify and resolve conflicts related to the meanings of words, concepts, practices, or behaviors
  • Work with a variety of cultural/regional dialects and backgrounds
  • Demonstrate high level of proofreading/editing skills
  • Suggest methods to update, simplify, and enhance translation processes and procedures
  • Work with discretion, maintaining confidentiality and neutrality when applicable
  • Adequately prioritize tasks while demonstrating attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office product suite in order to be able to edit and format any type of document

Qualifications

  • Bilingual Spanish/English skills at an Advanced High or Superior proficiency is required for this position
  • Candidates must qualify on Spanish and English reading and writing ACTFL proficiency assessments prior to starting the position
  • Ability to translate documents into the target language
  • Create documents (marketing materials, presentations, spreadsheets, databases, flowcharts) in the target language
  • Operate word processing and transcribing equipment
  • Demonstrated cultural knowledge of the target language
  • Demonstrated ability to speak, read, and write source and target language
  • Competitive applicants should have at least 1 or more years of previous work experience in the translation of documents

Additional Details

  • Starting pay for the position is $52,893.75
  • Bilingual pay differential of $1.50 per hour applies for this position. Employees also qualify for a one-time sign-on bonus of $1,000 (less taxes).
  • Hours of Operation: Applicants must be willing to work flexible work shifts during our operating hours - Monday - Friday 7:00am - 5:00pm CST. Days and hours of operation are subject to change. Flexibility in work schedule is needed.
  • This position is hybrid. Employees are expected to be in the office 5 days a month or 25% of workdays. The goal is to promote intentional engagement, and as a result, we assigned specific dates/weeks for the team to be in office. In office dates are as follows:
    • 3 designated days per month (Tuesday-Thursday) falling on the second full week of the month.
    • 2 floating days per month. Team member advises leader of floating dates.
      • Hybrid approach is subject to change based on business need
  • This position will have a 12-month incumbency period for a lateral move and a 6-month incumbency period for a promotional opportunity (beginning on the effective date of the position) which must be met before the employee can post for any other State Farm position. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.
