NASCAR racing is all about loud, fast cars burning gas and rubber around a track. But NASCAR unveiled something different: an all-electric SUV that has twice as much horsepower as any of their current gas guzzlers. It’s a sign of just how far electric vehicles have come that even a sport better known for its adherence to tradition is entertaining embracing the technology – even if, for now, the new car is just a prototype.

As part of his reporting for “The Last Alzheimer’s Patient” documentary, CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta travels to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, to learn more about an audacious theory on treating Alzheimer’s disease. After Dr. Paul Cox, founder of the nonprofit Brain Chemistry Labs, discovered the source of a mysterious neurodegenerative disease afflicting people in Guam, those clues led him to a novel way of thinking about Alzheimer’s and a simple amino acid called L-serine. Six Flags this week completed an $8 billion merger with rival Cedar Fair to create the largest amusement park operator in the United States. Together, they operate 42 amusement and water parks across 17 states. The success of the deal will determine the future of these amusement parks, and diehard rollercoaster fans are watching carefully. Some are optimistic that the condition of Six Flags’ parks will improve. Others worry it will become more expensive to get into their favorite parks. Many amusement park fans are passionate about the parks’ design and history and notice the smallest of changes. For now, each park in the new company will keep its old branding and name. While Mike Carver, 71, had no known family history of Alzheimer's, he was a carrier of both copies of the APOE4 gene - the genotype that can increase a person's risk tenfold. In 2017, he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's. Desperate for answers, Mike's wife Pat searched the internet for support groups, studies to join, anything to help slow this down. Eventually, they found Dr. Dean Ornish and his clinical trial in 2019. Dr. Ornish reports that after 40 weeks in the intervention group, all four of Mike's cognitive tests improved. Those peer-reviewed results have been published in the journal Alzheimer's Research & Therapy. CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta investigates the latest medical research showing that symptoms of Alzheimer's disease can be prevented, slowed and potentially even reversed. In a report spanning five years, Dr. Gupta follows Alzheimer's patients through their courses of treatment and explains why so many experts are calling it the "most hopeful" era for dementia patients and their loved ones. Dr. Gupta also details what viewers can do in their everyday lives that could help drive down their own risk of developing the devastating disease. "Dr. Sanjay Gupta Reports: The Last Alzheimer's Patient" airs Sunday, July 7, at 8pm ET on CNN.

As Google has rushed to incorporate artificial intelligence into its core products — with sometimes less-than-stellar results — a problem has been brewing behind the scenes: the systems needed to power its AI tools have vastly increased the company's greenhouse gas emissions. AI systems need lots of computers to make them work. The data centers needed to run them, essentially warehouses full of powerful computing equipment, suck up tons of energy to process data and manage the heat all of those computers produce. The end result has been that Google's greenhouse gas emissions have soared 48% since 2019, according to the tech giant's annual environment report. Google blamed that growth mainly on "increased data center energy consumption and supply chain emissions." Read more: https://cnn.it/3XP3GZU

Angel Reese had a dominant performance on Friday, extending her WNBA single-season record streak for double doubles to 12 and matching the all-time record, in a big 88-84 road win for the Chicago Sky over the Seattle Storm. Fresh off being named a WNBA All-Star, Reese impressed with 27 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks to help the Sky win their second game on the bounce against a Storm squad which had been on a four-game winning streak and 8-1 at home until Friday night. The former LSU star’s 12th consecutive double double matches the all-time record set by all-time WNBA great Candace Parker, who achieved the feat across the 2009 and 2010 seasons.
