About us
NYCSBUS (New York City School Bus Umbrella Services Inc.) is a newly formed not-for-profit corporation that provides school bus transportation services to New York City public and private school students, the majority of whom have Individualized Educational Programs. It operates approximately 800 school bus routes with a staff of approximately 1,800 people from six locations with a budget of $190 million. NYSCBUSs goal is to radically improve student bus transportation by innovating in all areas and by providing unprecedented transparency in bus operations to school districts that outsource this service. We believe that the best way to achieve this goal is to support and empower our employees to care about the families and schools we serve. Customers, schools, families and children, are among our organization's most valuable constituency. Every colleague represents NYCSBUS to our customers and the public. The way we do our jobs presents an image of our entire organization. Customers judge all of us by how they are treated with each colleague contact. Therefore, one of our first business priorities is to assist any customer or potential customer. Nothing is more important than being courteous, friendly, helpful, and prompt in the attention we give to customers.

Today the NYC Mayor's Office of Talent and Workforce Development's Abby Jo Sigal joined Mayor Eric Adams, Deputy Mayor Meera Joshi, and US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 2 Administrator Lisa Garcia to announce a 61.1M EPA grant to that will add 180 EV school buses to the city's school bus fleet! The grant will go to two companies: NYC School Bus Umbrella Services and JP Bus and Truck Repair. This is addition to a 15M grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation to build an innovative EV charging station right in the heart of Hunts Point, the busiest trucking destination in New York State, and a 1.5M grant from Joint Office of Energy and Transportation to help electrify the city's school buses. The green economy is already here, and these investments are building on the Adams administration commitment first laid out in January's State of the City to make NYC and communities like the South Bronx the premier location for innovation, green collar job growth, and a sustainable and inclusive city. To realize this vision, we will need a new generation of EV fleet managers, technicians and operators to enter the green transportation sector along with supporting the current generation to transition their skills to meet the needs of the new green economy. NYCSBUS is seeking an full-time HR Administrator. This role will work in a number of HR related arenas including: recruitment, onboarding, payroll, employee/labor relations, and more. It's an onsite position, and travel between the various bus depots is required. This person would report to the Sr. Human Resources Manager. This role was created so the HR team (currently five members, including myself) can more effectively deliver HR related services to the 1800 employees of NYCSBUS.
