Recently, MIT Lincoln Laboratory recognized Jeff “Skunk” Baxter’s 20 years of creative technical contributions within the Laboratory by transmitting his recent album, 𝑆𝑝𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑡, from Earth to the NASA Laser Communications Demonstration Satellite and back again. For many years, Skunk has been actively involved in the Laboratory’s Strategic Red Team for setting the directions for new missions and programs. He has also been involved in developing ideas for new capabilities to counter advanced threats. Skunk was a 2020 inductee into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame.

“Through my career, I have been fortunate to have had incredibly innovative and motivated people to collaborate with as we solve critical national security challenges,” Choi says. “Continuing to work with such a strong, Laboratory-wide team as director is one of the most exciting aspects of the job for me.”

Meet Cara Lennon 🏳️🌈 Cara is an Administrative Assistant in the Tactical and Space Systems Group and Co-Chair of the Lincoln Laboratory Out and Proud Employee Network (LLOPEN). On May 31, Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering and serving as Chief Technology Officer for the U.S. Department of Defense, Heidi Shyu, presented Eric Evans with the Department of Defense (DoD) Medal for Distinguished Public Service. This award is the highest honor given by the secretary of defense to private citizens for their significant service to the DoD. Evans was selected for his leadership as director of MIT Lincoln Laboratory and as vice chair and chair of the Defense Science Board (DSB).

Jared Hettrick is a Business Manager in the Information Integration and Decision Support Group who runs the group’s fiscal and logistical operations.
