As they help federal agencies tackle missions, government contractors need IT systems that are accessible onsite and remotely, maintain security without disrupting the user experience, and integrate smoothly with their own networks and those of their customers. #TeamMITRE SVP Cedric Sims and leaders from SAIC, CACI International Inc, and Future Tech Enterprise, Inc. discussed putting users first with #IT lifecycle management on Federal News Network. http://spklr.io/6047S5ex

During #PTSD Awareness Month, a group of MITRE employees spent a day at the Cloverleaf Equine Center (formerly NVTRP) to support its mission: “Horses Helping Humans Thrive". The #TeamMITRE volunteers helped with painting and landscaping projects around the center and spent some time with the facility’s residents—the horses. "It was a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of MITRE’s support to the community. It’s great that this facility supports veteran programs and that we can come out here and support them.” - Tad Grosvenor, chief engineer in MITRE's operational engineering department. The non-profit organization in Clifton, Virginia, provides equine-assisted services to various populations in need, such as those with disabilities and #veterans in recovery from post-traumatic stress disorder.

This week, a new federal rule requiring automatic emergency braking in new cars and trucks goes into effect, which the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration NHTSA projects will save at least 360 lives a year and prevent at least 24,000 injuries annually. http://spklr.io/6040SkRY We're working with the U.S. Department of Transportation to make collaborative research on automotive #safety technologies faster, easier, and more effective with the Virtual Open Innovation Collaborative Environment for Safety (VOICES) platform. The VOICES platform was created to provide a secure, scalable, and cost-efficient way to explore novel surface #transportation concepts, allowing automakers to simulate how new automotive tools and safety features interact with other transportation technology and the environment in a digital space. http://spklr.io/6048SkRi

China has rapidly expanded its tech presence in developing countries through its Digital Silk Road strategy—deploying increasingly automated, hyperconnected smart systems worldwide. The U.S. government and citizens around the world need to understand where their data is going, who has access to it, and how their data could be used against them. Nancy Ross, Kathryn Szot, and Maggie Vencill outline five considerations for assessing the impact of China’s push for digital dominance. http://spklr.io/6040SXYM
