Lincoln Laboratory hosted Peter MacDonald, one of the last living Navajo Code Talkers from World War II. The Navajo Code Talkers helped the U.S. military transmit messages securely during WWII by using a code based on the Navajo language. "The Navajo Code Talkers, whose native language proved to be unbreakable to enemy forces during World War II, remind us that diversity is one of our country's greatest assets," said Amanda Martinez, principal diversity and inclusion officer of the ODI. MIT Lincoln Laboratory researchers Ben Evans and David Whelihan return to the Arctic to test and deploy a small set of integrated sensor nodes that measure everything from atmospheric conditions, to ice properties, to the structure of water deep below the surface. Recently, MIT Lincoln Laboratory recognized Jeff “Skunk” Baxter’s 20 years of creative technical contributions within the Laboratory by transmitting his recent album, 𝑆𝑝𝑒𝑒𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝐻𝑒𝑎𝑡, from Earth to the NASA Laser Communications Demonstration Satellite and back again. For many years, Skunk has been actively involved in the Laboratory’s Strategic Red Team for setting the directions for new missions and programs. He has also been involved in developing ideas for new capabilities to counter advanced threats. Skunk was a 2020 inductee into the Rock and Rock Hall of Fame.

Meet Cara Lennon 🏳️🌈 Cara is an Administrative Assistant in the Tactical and Space Systems Group and Co-Chair of the Lincoln Laboratory Out and Proud Employee Network (LLOPEN).
