DBL resident cat Doja has decided that she has had her fair share of helping train dogs and would love a new furever home! She is a sweet young almost 2 year old cat. She likes long cuddle sessions on the couch, to perch up on your shoulder and purr in your ear while you prepare her meals, and sitting high up in her cat tree so she can gaze down upon all of her loving and adoring humans. She prefers adults only and is not a huge fan of the canine variety. Does she sound like a purrfect fit for your family? 🐾 Mighty Pup Date! 🐾 Hey everyone! Mighty is ONE!! He celebrated his first birthday on July 11! 🎉 Here’s what our adventurous pup has been up to: 📅 Age: ONE YEAR OLD! ⚖️ Weight: 62lbs 🎓 Training Focus: Mighty's been working on "under" (laying under tables) and greeting people calmly without getting too excited. He's doing an awesome job! 😂 Funny Story of the Month: Mighty's Puppy Raiser has started taking Mighty out on their pontoon boat on the Mohawk River, and he's absolutely loving it! At first, he was a bit hesitant about going into deeper water. He'd run as far as he could in the shallow end before finally giving in and swimming to fetch the stick. Now, he's a pro and gets great exercise and energy burn from all the swimming! 🏊 Mighty's Favorite Activity Lately: Swimming and chasing his favorite floating orange toy across the river behind his Raiser's house has become Mighty's absolute favorite thing to do. He can't get enough of it! 📸 Check out the photos of Mighty enjoying the river and his new boat adventures! What's your pup's favorite summer activity? Share in the comments below! #dbl #dogsforbetterlives #assistancedog #assistancedog #servicedog #servicedogintraining #puppylove #MightyHero #HeroInTraining #ServiceDogJourney #PawPatrol #Mighty

Follow-Up Friday: Celebrating 5 years with Facility Dog 🐾 Rambler and Winifred! Rambler continues to go to the office with Winifred where she works as a psychologist. Over the years, Rambler has brought so much happiness and positivity to everyone he meets, making each day brighter and better. In a job where patient anxiety can be high, Rambler has been a game-changer. His presence eases stress significantly, with one patient even saying, "the only reason I came back was for the dog!" Rambler not only encourages patients to attend their visits but also provides much-needed stress relief for the staff. Rambler's cozy dog bed right outside the office door is a favorite spot, where he often hangs out during the day. Some of the most cherished moments are when staff and patients pass by, showering him with love, compliments, and affection. Rambler is truly adored by the entire practice, and having him as a companion has been an incredible joy. Over these five years, Rambler has perfected his skills, including place, shake, go say hi, and greetings. Way to go Rambler and Winifred! 🐶❤️ #dbl #dogsforbetterlives #assistancedog #assistancedogintraining #servicedog #servicedogintraining #servicedogsofinstagram #followupfriday #FacilityDog

Our trainers and Assistance Dogs in training recently visited Medford Mercy Flights, a nonprofit air and ground ambulance service in Oregon. The dogs explored the interior of a helicopter and practiced their skills in this unique setting, meeting the wonderful pilots and first responders. One highlight was educating the Mercy Flights team about Service Dogs' roles and needs. The first responders learned how to safely transport Service Dogs with their handlers, ensuring both human and canine are well cared for in emergencies. The day was filled with smiles, wagging tails, and valuable knowledge exchange. Follow-Up Friday: Celebrating 3 Years with James and Autism Assistance Dog 🐾 Taylor! Today, we’re celebrating a heartwarming milestone - James and AAD Taylor’s 3-year follow-up! Erin, James' mom, shares how thankful she is for the bond James and Taylor share. She often refers to Taylor as James' 'doggy sister' because of their incredible connection. Taylor is always by James' side, whether they’re reading comics, drawing, or just hanging out. Taylor is currently working on skills like squish, visit, settle, and place, making her an indispensable part of the family. Erin expressed her heartfelt gratitude to all the generous donors of Dogs for Better Lives. She said, “Our family could never have saved enough for a dog that helps James like Taylor does. Knowing that someone donated to support families like ours feels so emotional and special. James has a best friend because of you, and we are incredibly grateful.” Congratulations to James and Taylor on three wonderful years together! Here’s to many more happy moments and milestones. Thank you to our donors for making stories like this possible #dbl #dogsforbetterlives #assistancedog #assistancedogintraining #servicedog #servicedogintraining #servicedogsofinstagram #followupfriday
