Worrying statistics from Greyhound Board of Great Britain have shown that 359 dogs involved in racing died or were put to sleep last year – a 47% increase on the previous year 💔 With us yet to hear the outcome of the Welsh Government’s consultation which could see greyhound racing phased out for good, we are working with Dogs Trust, Blue Cross UK, Greyhound Rescue Wales and Hope Rescue to amplify our calls for an end to greyhound racing in order to protect these vulnerable dogs. 83% of people believe that animal welfare should be protected by governments through legislation, yet animal welfare topics rarely get the attention they deserve during election campaigns 🗳️ While the UK was once a global leader in animal welfare, there's concern that we're falling behind and pets, wildlife, farmed animals and animals in science could all pay the price. Our Chief Executive Chris Sherwood delves deeper into why election campaigns can be a tricky time for charities 👇
