Let the new government know that dog welfare needs to be high on their agenda! We urgently need to see action on ⬇️ 🦴 Dog welfare, particularly in breeding and selling, with the vile puppy smuggling trade being brought to an end. 🦴 Better protections for owners, in areas like housing. 🦴 Responsible ownership, with changes to microchipping and dog control. 🦴 Improved regulation of advertising, animal rescues and dog breeding. 🦴 Ending cruelty to dogs in all forms, from electric shock collars, to fireworks, to greyhound racing. Sign up to be a Pawlitical Champion, and give dogs a voice in the new parliament ➡️ https://bit.ly/3xA63Fz

According to recent research by youth homelessness charity akt, 24% of the youth homeless population in the UK identify as LGBTQ+ and many of them are dog owners. Our Together Through Homelessness scheme works with partners such as akt to provide an inclusive vet scheme covering the vet bills for dogs whose owners are experiencing or at risk of homelessness anywhere in the UK. One of the dog owners we are supporting is Marc* who, at the age of 19, had to sofa-surfed for four months with his dog Lola* as a result of homophobia in his family. Shortly after losing their home, Lola was diagnosed with cancer and Marc was told she needed urgent vet treatments 😥 Our Together Through Homelessness vet scheme covered the cost of her cancer treatments as well as her preventative vet care at a local practice. If you support LGBTQ+ people experiencing or at risk of homelessness with a dog, we would be delighted to tell you more about the free and inclusive vet case support we can offer your clients. Our Together Through Homelessness scheme provides free vet care for dogs whose owners are of no fixed abode across the UK, including members of the Gypsy, Roma and Traveller communities who have no permanent place to park or are living on roadside camps. The high cost of vet care can be a big barrier for members of these communities to staying with their beloved dogs during challenging times. We work closely with our partners at FriendsFamiliesandTravellers to ensure there is a smooth and clear pathway to our free vet care service for dogs whose owners are living on roadside camps. Together, we are helping many people stay with their dogs without the worry of affording expensive vet care Read more ➡️ https://bit.ly/3KYIQzy 📸 Olivia Hemingway [Image description: A lady relaxes laying on her side propped up by her elbow, smiling in the grass.
