I am sure you have heard a version of this before, and I couldn't agree more. Be selective in your connections. Seek out friends who believe in your dreams, challenge you to grow, and celebrate your successes. Surrounding yourself with the wrong people can have several negative repercussions, including: Influence on Behavior: The company you keep can significantly impact your behavior. If your friends engage in destructive or harmful activities, you may be likelier to do the same. This can lead to poor decision-making and potentially dangerous consequences. Stagnation: Negative influences may discourage personal growth and development. If your friends are not motivated or ambitious, you may find it challenging to pursue your goals or reach your full potential. Draining Energy: Toxic relationships can be emotionally and mentally draining. Constant negativity, drama, or conflicts can deplete your energy and well-being, affecting your mental health and happiness. Peer Pressure: If your friends have values and priorities that differ from yours, you may face peer pressure to conform to their expectations, even if it goes against your better judgment. Conflict and Stress: Surrounding yourself with people who don't respect your boundaries or values can lead to frequent clashes and stress, harming your mental and emotional well-being. Limiting Opportunities: Being part of a negative or unproductive social circle can limit your exposure to opportunities, as you might not be introduced to new networks, experiences, or ideas that could benefit your personal or professional life. Decreased Self-esteem: If your friends constantly criticize or belittle you, it can erode your self-esteem and self-worth, leading to feelings of inadequacy and insecurity. Evaluating your friendships and being mindful of their influence on your life is crucial. Surrounding yourself with positive, supportive, like-minded individuals who encourage growth and well-being is essential for personal development and a fulfilling life. In life, some of the most costly possessions we may carry aren't physical, but they can significantly impact our overall well-being and success. Let's consider a few: Ego: Perhaps one of the most expensive possessions is our ego. It can lead us to make impulsive decisions, damage relationships, and hinder personal growth. The cost of maintaining an inflated ego can be substantial in terms of missed opportunities and strained connections. Procrastination: Procrastination is another costly possession. It saps our time, energy, and potential. The price we pay for putting things off can be steep, often leading to missed deadlines, unfulfilled goals, and increased stress. Lost Opportunity Costs: Failing to seize opportunities can be one of our most expensive choices. The cost of missed chances can't always be quantified, but it can involve missed career advancements, personal growth, and experiences that enrich our lives. Not Investing in Yourself: Neglecting personal development is another costly possession. By not investing in learning, self-improvement, or pursuing our passions, we miss out on the dividends that personal growth can provide in terms of fulfillment and opportunities. It is essential to recognize these intangible possessions and their potential costs. Being mindful of our ego, combating procrastination, seizing opportunities, and investing in personal growth can lead to a more prosperous and fulfilling life. Sometimes, the most valuable investments we can make are in ourselves and our personal development. Are you ready to make your next investment in yourself? In a world where doubt can often overshadow our dreams, remember that the power of belief knows no bounds. Just as you once trusted in the impossible, trust in your own potential to create wonders. Believe as fiercely in yourself as you did in that jolly old man in the red suit. The only difference now? You're the one who is in control. Commission vs. Hourly Have you ever contemplated choosing between commission-based compensation and the traditional salary or hourly wage structure? Perhaps you haven't delved deeply into the distinctions between these options. Allow me to share my journey, starting as an hourly worker and later transitioning into a salaried position, to explore the pros and cons of these two methods. When I began my career as an hourly worker, my income hinged solely on exchanging my time for money. The more hours I dedicated to work, the greater my potential earnings became. There were occasions when I worked over 40 hours a week. In recognition of my dedication, I received compensation in the form of overtime pay or holiday bonuses, which boosted my income. However, in my salaried role, the number of hours I worked ceased to be a direct factor affecting my pay. Interestingly, I often found myself working more hours than initially agreed upon, without any additional compensation. While I didn't have to be accountable for my hours, I did have to justify my income through my production. At one point, my employer decided to reduce my salary but introduced a bonus structure to make up the difference. This bonus was linked to my productivity, and meeting specific performance targets would earn me the bonus. I welcomed this change as it offered an incentive-based approach. Nevertheless, one drawback was that the production targets seemed to fluctuate monthly. I understand that many people find comfort in hourly pay because it provides a sense of security as long as you fulfill your duties and show up for work. However, the income growth rate in this setup may be relatively slow and infrequent. To be completely transparent, I now earn a 100% commission-based income. Commission-based earning can be intimidating due to perceived risks, but like many of us, regardless of our compensation structure, I show up every day and work diligently. In my view, commission-based compensation offers more significant potential for earning solely based on production. In some industries, you can continue to be compensated for items you sold years ago. It's important to note that this approach requires having faith in a viable product. In addition to sales earning 100% commission, there are additional perks, such as trips based on 100% of your efforts. Furthermore, your activity dictates bonuses, and commission increases are also based on activity. It's worth mentioning that if you are a business owner, you operate on a 100% commission basis. In conclusion, choosing these compensation paths ultimately depends on your preferences and goals. For me, earning six figures through 100% commission-based sales provided the quickest route with the fewest obstacles to generating higher income.
