Ridesharing service Uber introduced its Uber Ride Pass in 2018 as a way to help frequent Uber users lock in consistent low prices on Uber X and Pool rides, no matter how busy a commute is or what time of day they need a ride.

Uber Ride Pass is available for a monthly fee of $24.99 in select cities. Here's a look at how Uber Ride Pass works and its benefits so you can decide if it's right for you.

If you live in a city where Uber Ride Pass is available, you'll see Ride Pass in your Uber app's menu. Uber says it's expanding Ride Pass availability, so if it's currently not available for you, check back frequently.

How Uber Ride Pass Works

Uber Ride Pass is a monthly subscription that gives users a variety of discounts on Uber rides as well as flat-rate pricing without surges or surprises. Each pass is valid for a month and will renew automatically, but you can cancel anytime.

With the Uber Ride Pass, prices don't fluctuate on weekends or during special events, so riders can budget and save money. It even tracks the amount of money you've saved by using Ride Pass, so users can decide if it's worth the subscription price. The app also shows you how many days are left until your next renewal.

In some cities, JUMP bikes and scooters are a free perk of having an Uber Ride Pass. Check your app to see if this is available in your area.

How to Get an Uber Ride Pass

If Ride Pass is available in your city, you'll see it as an option in the Uber menu. Once subscribed, view your Ride Pass details at any time by going to Ride Pass in your Uber app menu.

  1. Open the Uber app.

  2. Select Ride Pass on the left-hand menu. A purchase screen appears with an outline of the program's benefits.

Is Uber Ride Pass for You?

Uber Ride Pass isn't for everyone. Uber designed the program for daily users, such as people who commute to work with Uber. If you use Uber only occasionally, you'll likely end up spending more money than your typical cost per ride.

Uber offers other savings programs that may be better suited to your lifestyle than Uber Ride Pass. For example, Uber Rewards is a free-to-join loyalty program where users earn points for every eligible dollar spent on rides with Uber and orders with Uber Eats. As you use the program, you'll get other benefits, such as flexible cancellations and priority airport pickups.

Uber Referrals is another way to earn free Uber rides. If you refer a friend to Uber and they take their first trip, you'll receive a free ride.
