How to Delete Your Uber Account

Deleting an Uber account is a simple process that only takes a few minutes to complete. Here's how to delete your Uber account from a smartphone (iOS or Android) or desktop, as well as how to remove the app from your device.

Delete Your Uber Account From a Smartphone

Follow these steps to delete your Uber account on an iOS or Android device.

1. Launch the Uber app from your smartphone, and make sure you're signed in to your account.

2. Tap on the Menu button, represented by three horizontal lines, located in the upper left-hand corner of the Uber app screen.

3. When the slide-out menu appears, select Settings.

4. Uber's Settings interface should now be displayed. Scroll down and choose the Privacy option.

5. Tap the Delete Your Account link, located at the bottom of the screen.

   

6. You'll be asked to verify your Uber password. Type it in and tap Verify.

7. On the next screen, Uber says it's sorry to see you go while displaying the number of rides you've had. Tap Continue.

8. Uber asks you why you're deleting your account. Select from a list of reasons or choose Other if you'd rather not say.

   

9. Your account is now deactivated. Uber will permanently delete the account in 30 days.

   If you change your mind and want your Uber account back, reactivate it at any time during the 30-day processing period simply by signing back into the app.

Delete your account from a web browser on your computer, phone, or tablet.

1. Navigate to the Uber Account Deletion web page.

   

2. Select Delete My Uber Account.

   

3. Enter the email address or phone number associated with the account and select Next.

   

4. Enter your password and select Next.

5. If you have enabled two-step authentication on your account, Uber will send you a verification code. Enter this code and select Verify.

6. Select the Continue button at the bottom of the page.

7. Choose a reason for deleting your account from the options offered.

   

8. Select Delete Account.

   

9. Your account has now been deactivated and will be permanently deleted in 30 days. (You can change your mind and reactivate your account simply by logging into the app.)

Removing the Uber App from Your Smartphone

Deleting your account does not remove the Uber app from your device. Follow these steps to remove the app from your iOS or Android device.

1. Tap and hold the Uber app icon on your device's Home Screen until all of your icons begin shaking and the letter X appears in the upper left-hand corner of each one.

2. Select the X on the Uber icon.

3. A message will now appear asking if you want to delete Uber. Tap the Delete button to completely remove the app and all of its related data from your phone.

Remove the Uber App From an Android Device

Uninstalling an app from an Android device depends on what version of Android you're running and what manufacturer made your device. Below are instructions for deleting an app on standard Android versions.

1. Tap Menu (either a hard or soft button).

2. Select Settings > Applications > Manage applications.

3. Select the Uber app.

4. Tap Uninstall to remove the Uber app from your device.
