What Is Apple One?

What to know about Apple's subscription bundle service

The Apple One subscription bundle pieces together up to six Apple services into one subscription plan for added convenience. Depending on which Apple One bundle you choose, you can enjoy Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud, Apple News+, and Apple Fitness+ for one set monthly fee, giving you access to plenty of great entertainment features and more.

What Is Apple One?

Apple One is an all-in-one subscription service available for Apple users, including iPhone and iPod touch with iOS 14 or later, iPad with iPadOS 14 or later, Apple TV with tvOS 14 or later, and Mac with macOS Big Sur 11.1 or later.

You don't need to own all of those devices to enjoy an Apple One subscription, with users able to pick and choose how they use the services.

The idea behind Apple One is that it consolidates all your favorite Apple-based subscriptions into one plan, making it cheaper for you and more convenient to manage. Both individual and family plans are available depending on your needs.

Apple One is a rival to various other services such as Spotify, Peloton, Netflix, and DropBox. The convenience here is that you subscribe to one plan rather than need to manage multiple different accounts.

When was Apple One Released?

Announced at Apple's September 2020 event, the Apple One release date was October 30—just after the iPhone 12 release. To sign up, go to the Apple One website and click Try Apple One free

Notable Apple One Features

At first glance, Apple One's greatest strength is its convenience. If you already subscribe to a few different Apple services, it makes sense to consolidate them and pay one monthly fee, potentially gaining more for your money. If you're new to Apple services, this is an excellent opportunity to see what's available. Here's a breakdown of the different services available through Apple One.

Apple News+ and Apple Fitness+ are only available on the Apple One Premier plan.

  • Apple Music. Apple Music is Apple's rival to Spotify. It allows you to stream unlimited millions of different music tracks. It also offers Apple Music Radio which lets users create Pandora-style radio stations. It also has extensive curation features, so you're regularly recommended playlists full of music that should appeal to you based on what you've listened to before.
  • Apple TV+. Not to be confused with the hardware product -- the Apple TV -- Apple TV+ is Apple's streaming TV and movie platform. It offers original content such as The Morning Show, Snoopy in Space, Ted Lasso, and movies such as Greyhound and On the Rocks.
  • Apple Arcade. Apple Arcade is a gaming streaming service that offers hundreds of games on the App Store entirely for free. Games include ChuChu Rocket! Universe, Pac-Man Party Royale, and much more. It works for both iOS-based platforms as well as the Mac.
  • iCloud. iCloud is Apple's cloud storage service allowing you to store files on the cloud for safe retrieval wherever you are. Depending on which plan you choose, you have access to 50GB, 200GB, or 2TB of storage.
  • Apple News+. Offering access to hundreds of magazines and newspapers each month, Apple News+ is a streaming service for those that love to keep up with the latest news and editorial. It includes personalized recommendations and breaking news notifications, as well as online and offline reading.
  • Apple Fitness+. A competitor to Peloton, Apple Fitness+ offers hours of workouts along with fitness tracking and performance comparisons. It was originally only available for the Apple Watch, but you can also use it on an iPhone running iOS 16 and later or an iPad running iPadOS 16 and up.
