Google's New AI Abilities Aim to Upgrade How We Search

Google has introduced some exciting new features for Google Search powered by Gemini. These upgrades are designed to make finding information faster and easier for everyone.

AI Overview is what Google calls its new summary of the search results. No more sifting through pages of links—the best content is gathered at the top of the page for you. This feature used to be limited to a select group, but now it's becoming available to everyone in the US, with more countries coming soon.

And unlike the traditional Search, you won't have to painstakingly enter each query separately anymore—Google's new "multi-step reasoning capabilities" allow you to input multiple requests at once.

You can now plan your trips or meals right from the search results page, complete with day-to-day details or ingredients for your shopping list. And it's all easily editable, so you can tweak your plans without starting from scratch.

The revamped results page uses AI to provide tailored suggestions based on your search. Instead of just links, you'll see catchy headlines that organize the content into sections that match your interests. So if you're looking for a romantic dinner spot, you might see sections like "Romantic steakhouses" or "Rooftop patios for dates."

And here's a game-changer: you can now search Google with live video. This Google Lens feature means there's no need to type in the perfect query; just shoot a video of what you need help with, like a broken ice machine, and Google will provide the answers as if you typed the question yourself. And with AI Overview available for a quick look at the answer, it's like having your own personal assistant right at your fingertips.
