No gift/dedicate option. No certificate of contribution.

I wanted to gift my CO2 removal to my niece for her birthday but there is no gifting option.

Instead, I made a purchase and used her name. I thought this would be a great work around but I had hoped to receive more than just a purchase invoice. It would be great if you could send a card or certificate along with the invoice that shows how much CO2 you have removed (one time) or how much you have pledged to remove WITHOUT mentioning the dollar amount.

One could share that certificate with friends or frame it. It would also motivate others to donate.

Regardless, the work you do is awesome and much needed. Thank you truly.

Dear Tayyab,

Thank you so much for choosing our technology! We are grateful for your support.

We understand that you were interested in our gifting option, which is currently unavailable. While subscriptions can be purchased for others, they don't offer the same gifting experience, and you would only receive a receipt.

However, we may have a solution for you! By logging into your account and selecting "confirmations," you can download a PDF that might be helpful. This PDF won't display the amount spent, so it can still be a thoughtful way to share your gift.

We hope this information helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Kind regards,
Your Climeworks team

Your payment system seems to…

Your payment system seems to pre-charge/double charge the transaction then rejects the purchase if there is insufficient funds (i.e. if there is not DOUBLE the actual transaction amount).
I would have paid for 3x more credits from Climeworks if your website had allowed me to.

Website is easy, and here's an idea

The website is very easy to use, which is always a plus.

My only recommendation is to get some basic conversations to daily life with the numbers. Telling someone they'll remove 40kg of CO2 doesn't mean much (and I know it is not much), but I think it would be much more meaningful to say something like: "40 kgs will be removed from the atmosphere this month, which reduces your footprint from commuting to work or heating and cooling your home".

Just some food for thought.

Questions about the price

I value very much what you are doing but the price of your ton of CO2 is still extremely high. One of your competitor Carbone Capture with its Bison project is selling it for 530 US dollars, whereas your ton of CO2 cost double that price. How do you explain that? Moreover, the world resource institute claims that it costs between 250 dollars and 600 dollars to capture a ton of CO2 through Direct Air Capture. Is it because the costs of sequestration are not taken into account in this evaluation?
Thanks in advance for your responses

A great company with a great product.

A great company selling direct air carbon capture as a subscription. Love the newsletters they send out with status reports on their most recent expansions, development and research highlights. Great stuff!

You can access more fun data on your contribution on their website but for me the newsletters are plenty good. I simply want to help the efforts in combating climate change and support efforts that show great potential. If that sounds like you, you can do this by getting a subscription at Climeworks.

Cheers!

ClimeWorks is a very reliable company…

ClimeWorks is a very reliable company who has been working in the business to remove CO2 from the air for a long time. Lots of technical expertise and well funded and they communicate regularly on the services provided. Checking yourself to see the removal process and capturing the CO2 in solid rock is something you can't really do. So it all comes down to trust here. However, given that the company has been vetted so many times by various parties makes this company trustworthy.

Direct carbon capture

Yes, you can pull the carbon dioxide emissions you are responsible for directly from the air. It's expensive, and it's sobering to remember that this is the problem that we're dumping on the next generation. It's a lot cheaper not to emit in the first place. Think about that when you spend to scrub just a hundred kg from the air.

I have been waiting for an opportunity…

I have been waiting for an opportunity to start paying down my excess atmospheric CO2 debt to society. I also want you to build more DAC plants to go down the learning curve as fast as possible. Good Luck--we all need it.

Missing a clear goal setting feature

Climeworks does a great job on explaining the DAC-technology but I miss feeling engaged because my account shows no goals (it shows just a CO2 kg counter). It would be great to add clear goal-setting (e.g. I want to compensate my air travel, computer use, ...) and then show a count down. I would be very proud to see my contibutions becomes negative!

Dear Ruud,

Thank you so much for being a pioneer with us.

That is a fantastic idea. We are currently looking into how to make our CO2 removal more tangible to our pioneers. So i thank you for sharing your feedback and thoughts with us.

Wishing you all the best.

Warm regards from Zurich,

Direct Air Capture, great company!

This company based in Zurich, Switzerland is the leader in direct air capture. Means they „suck“ Co2 from the air and store it longterm underground. This technique used in big scale can really fight climate change! You can get an abo with them and permanently offset a part of your carbon footprint.

A great step to save the planet.

I read about Climeworks while researching for a project on carbon capture initiatives. What I loved about Climeworks is how easy it is for a common person to buy some captured carbon from here. I bought it as a gift for my 2nd wedding anniversary, making the purchase more meaningful for me and my husband.
Clinmeworks is doing an amazing job at DAC and definitely setting high standards for the industry. All the best to the team, hoping you are able to turn all your plans into successful and meaningful realities.

payment process not working

I recieved a information, that the payment was not possible. But the charge was applied to my credit card. It is still marked as "pending" but my limit is not high enough and it will most probably stay in this state for couple of more days

Fantastic initially, some questions

Fantastic initially, there are some things that are less clear.
Good options for purchase and a nice little dashboard. However, the process could be a little clearer to set expectations. The marketing says: "You'll be able to measure precisely how much CO₂ we've removed in your name using your Climeworks dashboard.", but when on the dashboard, all I see is "Your total CO₂ capture ordered". How much I've ordered, and how much has been captured are two very different numbers to me, and I was hoping to see both.
So for anyone buying a subscription, be aware that you will only know your "real" contribution at the end of each year, and until then, just what you've paid for. I'm hoping they're able to make the updates more frequent in the future.

I love Climeworks and the work this…

I love Climeworks and the work this institution is performing, that we may finally reverse some of the damage that humans have placed upon the planet. I wish that more people would become aware of the dire crisis that Mother Earth now finds herself in, and that we have only one planet- we must take care of her in order to take care of ourselves!

I’m optimistic about Climeworks goals…

I’m optimistic about Climeworks goals and their technology and am now subscribing to the services. The power for individuals to act feels more tangible than most climate initiatives. It seems the technology is young and I would love to hear frequent updates on progress in efficiency to feel like my contributions will actually make a difference. Thank you all in advance for keeping up the good hard work.

Climeworks - A+

Climeworks is working to expand a much-needed solution to climate change. Carbon removal has a lot of potential to help slow climate change and Climeworks makes it easy to feel like you can make a difference. I can only afford to subscribe to remove 10kg of carbon/month - 12 USD - but it eases my conscience and I’m happy to support the movement.

One of the only ways to undo emissions

One of the only ways to actually undo your emission impacts. More importantly, this technology will need to scale rapidly at an affordable cost for societal decarbonization. So if you can afford to help decarbonize at this price now, it is well worth it to help drive down future costs
