  • Today's Feedback Friday is from a parent, and it's about Claire, Senior Mental Health Practitioner at Changing Lives: "Claire has done more for my child than anyone has in the past few years. She really listened to us both and went above and beyond to help. Claire is one of a kind and I would like to thank her for all her help, support and advice during our meetings, thank you Claire." We wouldn't be able to provide mental health support to the children and young people of Derbyshire without our incredible team of practitioners! Thanks everyone!

  • Design our new logo, and be in with a chance of winning £100 Amazon voucher! 🎨 We need a new logo that represents what we do: provide mental health support to every child and young person across Derby and Derbyshire. We think there’s nobody better to do that job than the children and young people of Derbyshire themselves. We want to see as many ideas as we can, so send us your design, and then share this post! • Mental Health Ambassadors at Holly House School in Chesterfield have ran their first ever set of wellbeing sessions, following weeks of preparation, and training from the Kingsmead MHST at Compass Changing Lives! Mental Health Ambassadors are brilliant young people, elected by their fellow students, that act as advocates for mental health withing their school, including running sessions for other students. Their first few sessions included designing and making "Worry Monsters" and custom Pride T-Shirts. Read all about it in the latest article on our website, here ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/dcgzJgdP

    • Gallery of photos, including:
- "Worry Monsters", colourful monsters made out of cardboard, with big mouths. Many have labels with slogans like "feed me your worries"
- Mental Health Ambassador Training
- white T-shirt with hand drawn hearts, each one of them looks like a Pride Flag

  • We’ve been at St George's Primary School in Swadlincote, talking about anxiety. St George’s hosted the event to support their students that were dealing with anxiety, and to equip parents with the knowledge and skills they needed to help them. We are a service that provides mental health support to children and young people, both in school and at home, so we were there to help! Georgia and Joe, EMHP and tEMHP respectively, spread the word about who we are and what we do, and shared some helpful tips with parents. One parent told us that she felt like the stars had aligned, as her child had been struggling with a lot of worries recently, and now she had discovered our service it made her feel liberated. It was a really positive experience, and parents left St George’s with a whole new set of tools for dealing with anxiety!

  • It's ok to do what's best for you. 🆗💖🫵 It is good to be kind and generous to other people, but not at the expense of your own wellbeing. Sometimes, you need to prioritise yourself, and that's ok. Be as kind and generous to yourself as you would to other people, and if you need to, tell yourself it's ok to do what's best for you.

  • #FeedbackFriday this week is from a school we worked with: “Thank you, that was brilliant!” Which is exactly what we aim for! As well as working directly with children and young people to support their mental health, we also work with schools and families to help everybody support young people’s well-being. If you think that you or somebody you know would benefit from our support, or if you just want to know a little more about us, check out the link in our bio!

  • We’re thinking back over Pride 2024. One way we celebrated was at Outwood Academy Newbold’s brilliant Pride event, organised by the student LGBTQ+ Society. The event was packed with music, stalls and colour, and the hall was full of students living their best life and being their most authentic selves. We were there to show our support, and spread the word about the mental health and emotional wellbeing support available to the students there. To find out more about the event, head to the link below: https://lnkd.in/eyn7fRBF

  • It's ok to not be ok. 🆗💥🚫🆗 To be your happiest, healthiest self you need give yourself permission to not always feel your best. Take care of yourself, and treat yourself with the patience and kindness you deserve. Realise you are not alone, break the stigma around mental health, and tell yourself "It's ok to not be ok"

  • Earlier this week we were at an event, where we talked to loads of great people involved in education in Derby City. Somebody said something that really resonated with us, and that's why it's going in this week's Feedback Friday: "People often offer things and don't deliver on them, but Changing Lives does." Building trust and delivering on promises is such a big part of delivering effective mental health support, whether working with children or schools. We're so pleased that people see that in us! Want to find out more about how we support children and young people's mental health and emotional wellbeing in Derby and Derbyshire? Head to the link in our bio.
