Plot: A delivery boy with colourblindness, Shashi (Chethan Kumar) falls in love with salesgirl Nayana (Ashwitha Hegde). Will she accept him for who he is?

Review: Shashi (Chethan Kumar) works in the textile industry as a delivery boy. He frequents a textile shop and is smitten by salesgirl Nayana (Ashwitha Hegde). Shashi’s daily routine includes updating his friend (ASG) about his encounters with Nayana. After much contemplation, and upon his friend’s advice, he finally asks her out on a date. During their date, he reveals to her about his colourblindness. Can Nayana see the love for her through his eyes? Can she add colours to Shashi’s monochrome life?

Love is a universal language and everybody has a love story to tell. What makes this love story unique is how two characters blend together. While Shashi can only see shades of black and grey, Nayana loves colours. When they are together, Shashi sees the world, in colour, through her eyes. The world through Shashi and Nayana’s eyes are the same, yet, so different. The six-episode mini-series, which is over 10 minutes per episode, also pays a heartfelt tribute to old Bengaluru. In an era where love stories are set in cafes and pubs, Colours is set in parks, markets and nooks of old Bengaluru petes. The series shows the lesser-seen side of Bengaluru, once a haven for Boomers and Millennials.

The series has only three characters - Chetan, Ashwitha and ASG. Ashwitha Hegde looks very promising. Chethan and Ashwitha have an easy-going, heart-warming chemistry, which is also very relatable. Written and directed by Shreekara Bhat, and presented by Rishab Shetty, Colours, is a well-crafted mini-series in Kannada. The first three episodes are a bit slow, but the last three episodes and a short monologue in the end makes it worth watching. Music is another highlight of Colours. Though it is a mini series, Nachiketa Sharma Miganakallu’s music is very impressive.

If you have an hour to spare, give Colours a try. The mini series is now streaming on YouTube.
