6 tips for a successful IVF pregnancy after embryo transfer
The embryo transfer step of IVF treatment is the most critical and nerve-wracking for an expectant mother. An embryo transfer can cue many emotions, from excitement and hope over the possibility of becoming pregnant, to anxiety and helplessness that there is nothing further to do but wait until you can take a pregnancy test. While the expectant mother is preparing for her pregnancy, it is also a time when she must exercise greater caution.
Here are some tips to help you have a pleasant experience during an IVF pregnancy.
Relax and carry on with your normal routine
Some doctors recommend 24-hour bed rest post-procedure, while other sources recommend relying on low impact movement to cause blood flow to the uterus with the hopes of increasing the chance of pregnancy. It takes a few days to determine whether or not the embryo has been implanted, women should take some days off to relax and recover. Slowing down could help with the emotional rollercoaster you're experiencing, as well as serve as a physical safeguard.
Take your medications on schedule
During the first three months of an IVF pregnancy, a woman may require additional medicines and progesterone support. This can exacerbate giddiness and vomiting symptoms. Therefore, taking all of the medicines prescribed by the doctor at the appropriate times is critical. It may be tempting to stop taking your medicine before your embryo transfer, but you should not do so without your doctor's permission.
Progesterone is an important hormone for maintaining a pregnancy and is frequently used in assisted reproduction methods like IVF. In order for their pregnancy to have the best chance of continuing, many women need to continue taking progesterone in the weeks following the transfer. It aids in the implantation (and maintenance) of the embryo in the uterus. On their doctor's suggestion, women should begin taking folic acid during this period.

Keep stress at bay
Any kind of stress during this time should be avoided. This is a moment to unwind and enjoy yourself. To keep your mind focused and feel happy about everything around you, practice meditation, breathing exercises, and yoga.
Maintain a healthy diet
The first three months of most IVF pregnancies might be plagued with intense nausea, making it difficult to consume anything. It is therefore important to eat in small portions. After the first trimester, on the advice of the doctor, you can resume a healthy diet. Avoid eating out of the house or eating meals that haven't been freshly prepared. At this stage, only fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as calcium, protein, B vitamins, and iron-rich meals should be consumed. Take the vitamin and minerals supplements as advised by the doctor.
Avoid these foods and activities
Reduce your caffeine intake to no more than two cups per day, and quit smoking and drinking alcohol totally. These can be extremely harmful to the baby, causing developmental delays and even miscarriage in some situations.
One should always seek professional medical counselling from the IVF clinic. It is critical to look after your mental health during this time. Any type of stress should be avoided, and your primary focus should be on relaxing and taking care of yourself.
