Kolkata: CtrlS Datacenters Ltd — one of the largest hyperscale data centre service providers in Asia — is set to come up with a greenfield data centre campus on a five-acre land at New Town’s Silicon Valley. The investment for the Hyderabad-based company’s expansion in Kolkata is pegged at Rs 2,200 crore.
The company is developing the campus (having IT load capacity of 60MW) in four phases.
In the first phase, the data centre will start operations by Aug with 16MW IT load capacity from an over 90,000 sq ft building, according to Suresh Kumar Rathod, president - colocation business, CtrlS Datacenters. “Bengal govt has given us the land on lease for 99 years. The land was allotted to us in 2022 while the construction of the first data centre building commenced following registrations in 2023. As per plans, the upcoming New Town campus will have four buildings, one of which will operate from the second quarter of this ongoing fiscal. This will be the first rated 4 data centre in eastern India,” Rathod said.
