We invite you to flourish with nature by discovering students' favorite outdoor spots on campus. Learn how to thrive alongside others by utilizing tips to connect with your peeps and find your community on campus. Additionally, delve into the significance of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and discover ways to show your support for survivors during SAAM and beyond. We hope this edition will inspire you and others to blossom into your fullest, most flourishing selves!

April marks the start of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). SAAM is dedicated to raising public awareness about sexual assault and educating communities on how to prevent sexual violence. SAAM allows communities to unite under the theme of empowerment, catalyzing change and strengthening a commitment to safe and caring environments. We know that social connection is vital to our personal growth, mental health, and well-being, but on a bustling campus, you may be wondering at times if your peeps are even out there. The good news is the university is filled with thousands of people from different backgrounds, with each day offering a chance to meet someone new. Although it may feel challenging, you can begin forming connections and finding community with the people around you using these tips.

  • Well-Being Community Office Hours - Sign up for a coaching session today! These 30 minute in-person sessions are to learn about Well-Being Coaching or to follow up on a session. Learn more about Well-Being Coaching. How to access: These sessions will be in person on Tuesdays at NACC from 3pm-5pm and on Thursdays at Centro from 11am-1pm. Virtual sessions are also available on Wednesday from 1pm-5pm and Fridays from 10am-2pm. Schedule a Well-Being Community office hours appointment. (U)(G)
  • PEDS 116: Peer Education and Campus Culture - Express your interest today! Are you interested in becoming a PEER, connecting with current PEERs, and exploring health and well-being on campus? In this course, you will gain experience in public health, health psychology, sociology, and gender studies. Learn about topics affecting campus life such as substance use, sexual citizenship, and well-being. Participation in this course is required for prospective PEERs but does not guarantee a future position as a PEER. How to access: This course will be in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12pm-1:20pm at Kingscote 101. FREE lunch every week. Fill out the interest form for more details. (U)
  • LEAD 101: Leading at Stanford and Beyond: Skills for Changemaking and Community Building - Begins Monday, April 1 at 4:30pm. Enhance your skills in leading and creating positive social change within the Stanford community and beyond. Deepen self-knowledge and self-awareness while building capabilities for leading in teams and communities. Build your leadership toolkit through hands-on practice and apply your learnings in the specific communities to which you belong.   • LEAD 152: Dialogue Lab: Exploring and Cultivating our Capacity to Engage Across Difference Class - Begins Tuesday, April 2 at 1:30pm. The final session of the CAPS x FLI: Let’s Talk Series will focus on self-love and belonging. This workshop will explore coping with stress, finding community, and managing emotions. How to access: This course will be in person on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:30pm-2:50pm at Lathrop 296. (U)(G)
  • Meet & Greet for Black Graduate Students - Monday, April 8 from 5pm-6pm. Black-identified graduate students are invited to the Black CAPS & GLO Meet & Greet event, a wonderful opportunity to kick-start the spring quarter. Learn about the tailored support and resources available to assist Black graduate students in navigating life at Stanford and be in community with others.   • Student Grief and Loss Gathering - Wednesday, April 10 from 4pm-5:30pm. If you are currently or have ever experienced the death of a significant person in your life, or are experiencing feelings of grief in a time of uncertainty, this is an opportunity to share your experiences, suggestions, and concerns with others in a safe and supportive environment.   • Spring DisCo Welcome Workshop - Wednesday, April 10 at 4:30pm. Have you ever wondered about the academic or housing accommodations process or criteria? Haven’t had a chance yet to visit the cozy Disability Community Space (complete with Disco ball) yet? Want to meet CAPS counselors & better understand the many types of mental health supports free to all students? Join us for afternoon tea & snacks and learn about OAE, CAPS and DisCo!   • Take Back the Night - Tuesday, April 16 from 7pm-10pm. Take Back the Night (TBTN) is an event that happens on college campuses across the United States to bring awareness to sexual violence issues and provide an opportunity for survivors and others to share their experiences with violence in a powerful space after rallying and marching together. Join SHARE in Meyer Green for the rally and march for TBTN, and continue to Toyon Hall to unite as a community to protest against sexual violence and advocate for survivors. How to access: All are welcome to attend! The rally and march will start in Meyer Green and end in Toyon Hall. (U)(G)(P)
  • LGBTQ+ Asian American Coping and Wellness - Thursday, April 18 from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Want LGBTQ+ Asian American specific resources and programs to promote your wellness? Whether you are an Asian American and/or LGBTQ+ or an ally, join Marissa Floro PhD, and Ang Li, LMFT as they share various strategies and resources to promote your wellness during these challenging times through an educational-based workshop.   • QT Fund Spring 2024 - Applications open Monday, April 22! The QT Fund was created as a systemic way to support students' lived experiences of being queer/trans/non binary/lgb2 and address the specific financial hurdles students encounter and burdens they bear when navigating systems of inequity at Stanford and beyond. This fund is designed to financially support students to access gender and sexuality affirming medical, legal and mental health services. How to access: Apply for the QT Fund.   • FREE Narcan Training - Monday, April 22 from 7pm-8pm. Sign-up for FREE Narcan Trainings facilitated by PEERs and in collaboration with the Well House.   • Questioning - Tuesday, April 23 from 4pm-5pm. Brought to you by QSR, CAPS & Weiland, Questioning is a discussion, support, and community space series. Each meeting hopes to create space for a particular group to explore the unique experiences, challenges, and positives of questioning identity.   • Denim Day - Wednesday, April 24. Wear denim on this day to protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence.   • QTrees - Wednesday, April 24 from 3pm-4pm. QTrees is a process/support group for LGBTQIA+ undergraduate and graduate students at Stanford. Connect with other LGBTQIA+ to process and support each other around your identity and how that may impact your experience. How to access: This group will be in-person at Kingscote Gardens.   • SOM BIPOC Student Support Group - Begins Thursday, April 25 at 8:30am. This is a 6-session student-lead support group for School of Medicine BIPOC students, with 2 MHT clinicians serving as host facilitators. In this supportive space, students come as they are, share mutual support, and foster community. Students build tools to navigate academic and professional stressors, cope with anxiety, process issues rooted in systemic oppression, decrease impostor feelings, and process other student lead topics. This group is open to registered BioSci PhD/MS, MSPA, and MD students of all genders who identify as people of color. How to access: This group will take place on Thursdays from 8:30am-9:30am.   • Wise Mind DBT-Informed Skills Group - Begins Thursday, April 25 at from 3pm-4:30pm. This virtual Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) group is a quarter-long workshop-style group on how to identify and work with intense emotions. DBT addresses skills to understand and regulate emotion, tolerate distress, and be more interpersonally effective. Each group includes mindfulness practice.   • Tea for the Soul - Thursday, April 25 from 4pm-5pm. Join the Office for Religious and Spiritual Life on Thursdays for some tea and space to rest, relax, and recharge.   • Queer Yoga - Thursday, April 25 from 5pm-6pm. Join the Weiland Health Initiative, Well-Being, and YogaX in a queer community space of movement, group discussion and reflection time focused on yoga and life beyond. All bodies and identities are welcome! This class will be for all levels of yoga experience and will provide variations for poses and props to meet ALL body needs. Extra mats, blocks, straps, and blankets will be available to borrow! How to access: This group will be outside at Kingscote Gardens (weather permitting).   • Rooted! Black Graduate Student Support Group - Monday, April 29 at 3pm. Rooted! is a support group for Black-identified Stanford graduate students that is designed to be a confidential space for students to speak their minds, build community, rest, connect with themselves, and learn coping skills for managing graduate life at Stanford. How to access: This group will be in person on Mondays from 3pm-4pm at Counseling and Psychological Services (Vaden Health Center, 2nd floor). Connecting with CAPS is required to join this group.   • Dissertation Support Group - Monday, April 29 at 4:30pm. This six-session group will be a place to vent, meet other people like you, share goals and perspectives on navigating common themes (isolation, motivation, relationships), and learn some helpful coping skills to manage the stress of dissertation writing.   • FREE Upstander Training - Monday, April 29 from 7pm-8pm. Sign-up for FREE Upstander Trainings facilitated by PEERs and in collaboration with the Well House. Upstanders are individuals who witness a behavior that could lead to something high risk or harmful, and make the choice to intervene. Learn how you can create a culture of consent within and outside your communities. How to access: Upstander Trainings will take place at the Well House (562 Mayfield Avenue).
