Aug 8, 2022 at 13:05 comment added AncientSwordRage @user77842 I'm not the GM ... I'm making this character in a vacuum, which is not normally how FATE characters are made from what I've gathered. So there's no one to communicate that to yet. Having something in writing feels safer than getting attached to a character hoping whatever hypothetical group I join listens. I don't see this as a difficult aspect, but one that I'm slightly anticipating other making difficult. Does that make any sense?
Aug 8, 2022 at 7:23 comment added user77842 Are you the GM in this situation? Safety tools are always a crutch to make up for poor communication. Isn't it simpler to tell your players "Fin may be fat but don't take the piss ok?" - or better yet don't have an aspect that is so difficult for everyone at the table?

Aug 7, 2022 at 21:48 comment added minnmass @AncientSwordRage: and, without at least the broad outlines of the unspecified characteristics the OP wants this aspect to have, it's real hard to suggest what that clause or work-around might be. The question suggests it's about being overweight; if so, an aspect might be ... I remember shopping in the "husky" section as a lad - big enough that it Fin might have trouble getting through a small window, but well within the weight limits for furniture. But: without knowing the broad characteristic, all we can reliably say boils down to "Fate seems like a bad fit for this; you sure about it?".
Aug 7, 2022 at 19:17 comment added AncientSwordRage @fectin but OP also doesn't know if there's some clause or work around that exists in the game that would facilitate this
Aug 7, 2022 at 19:10 comment added KorvinStarmast @fectin OK, I can see that
Aug 7, 2022 at 18:43 comment added fectin @KorvinStarmast OP wants an aspect with unspecified characteristics, which will be useable in some unspecified circumstances but not in other unspecified circumstances, and is committed to using a system which makes this difficult for unspecified reasons. There's a lot of words, but precious little relevant detail.

Aug 6, 2022 at 9:01 comment added Philipp Keep in mind that not every trait of a character must necessarily be an aspect. If you want to play a character with a certain character trait but don't want compels from other people breaking your agency of that character, then you can play it safe by just not writing it down as an official aspect on the character sheet. You can still reference that character trait during your narration. You just can't use it as a part of the compel and invoke mechanic.
Aug 6, 2022 at 0:51 comment added AncientSwordRage @Ifusaso that's a good point. Let me think about it...
Aug 6, 2022 at 0:48 comment added Ifusaso 'he-him' @AncientSwordRage That's fine, but I guess my point is that you're asking a different question than you're "asking". Essentially, "how should/can I word an aspect" isn't answerable with the details provided and should be reworded itself. Something like "How can I communicate to my group that I need to be able to Veto compels on an aspect for personal reasons"

Aug 5, 2022 at 12:41 comment added AncientSwordRage @Ifusaso thats the detail I don't want to get bogged down in. I might ask a later question specifically about the spect, but I didn't want to get to that now. Mainly to avoid people arguing why I even need to be careful about the topic when it's quite personal, and partly as I might want to play other characters where the specific answer doesn't work.

Aug 5, 2022 at 12:35 comment added Ifusaso 'he-him' I don't think we can answer the question "How can I word an aspect that I can veto/Is there some way of wording the Aspect" without more context. I could guess that it relates to the character being physically large from your examples, but that doesn't indicate how large they are, or in which fashion (heavily muscled, morbidly obese, slightly fat, etc, etc...).
