Mar 25, 2019 at 12:48 comment added Vylix @DaveSherohman that they have misconception with RPG, perhaps? Usually they either have heard/watched RPG content or played computer/videogame RPG, and new to DnD. Note that this group in this question is different with the group mentioned in trap-phobia and NPC-phobia question.
Mar 25, 2019 at 12:36 comment added Dave Sherohman I agree that it's a potential XY problem. Have you considered that, rather than unrelated trap-phobia, NPC-phobia, and mimic-phobia (and who knows what "-phobia" you'll trip over next), there may be some underlying factor leading your players to mistrust you (or your adventure/world), which then manifests as a "phobia of the week"?
Mar 25, 2019 at 4:49 comment added Vylix @mxyzplk actually, it's quite the opposite. Each question that gives specific, actionable answer(s) helped me a lot improving my design and encounter planning and execution, especially the trap and NPC question. I've hit another problem with mimic-like, and general suggestion from both question seem to be less useful in this case.

Mar 23, 2019 at 16:26 comment added mxyzplk If your players are scared of objects and areas and people you have an XY problem, I suspect answers to each of these specifically will not help you a lot.

Mar 23, 2019 at 1:53 comment added Vylix @krb this is my concern as their DM. As I've stated above, this slows down the game (as I usually put story progression as priority) and restrict my ability to describe things usually unimportant. I want to mix clue objects among the unimportant objects.

Mar 22, 2019 at 20:54 comment added krb You're asking about mimic phobia. You have previously asked about trap phobia and NPC phobia. The core issue seems to be a concern that your dungeon crawls are moving a crawl. Have your players complained about this or is it just your concern as the DM?
