If they use firebolt on a wooden chest, the chest/lock/contents can be destroyed, but if it was next to a fireplace there is no way it was filled with gunpowder! All consequences of their actions should be things the player doing the action could have reasonably predicted would happen. Done right, this can be hilarious; done wrong and this one of the most frustrating things a DM can do. | |
