Mozilla Festival is a unique hybrid: part art, tech and society convening, part maker festival, and the premiere gathering for activists in diverse global movements fighting for a more humane digital world.
Can you believe it's been three weeks since #MozFest House Amsterdam? 😱

"Today in 2024, we see that young people recognize what's happening in Palestine, Sudan, and Congo, is the same exploitation."

Freelance multidisciplinary creative: actor, director and movement practitioner with 18+ years experience | Specialising in physical performance and collaborative storytelling.
Throwback to our Royal Shakespeare Company demo, WE ARE BODIES - Co-presence and the Space in Between: Live Performance in an Age of AI at Mozilla Festival last month. I took to the stage with a team of legends: director Gemma Fairlie, Producer James Turnbull, Director of Digital Development Sarah Ellis and Ruthie Doyle
Performing Shakespeare's "The Stranger's Case" speech from Sir Thomas More was a privilege, we followed up with a demonstration of the transformative power of integrating performers into the development of immersive technologies earlier in the process. This experience underscored the critical role actors play in shaping engaging and dynamic storytelling across mediums.
I love collaborating on innovative projects that push the boundaries of traditional storytelling and the new places this technology is taking our creative practices to.
I'm grateful to the Royal Shakespeare Company's Digital Department, MARSHMALLOW LASER FEAST, Alex Counsell at University of Portsmouth CCIXR for pivoting my career in 2021 with DREAM, a live performance broadcast globally from a motion capture volume. This experience has truly cemented my belief in the fusion of traditional performance art with modern technology.
Curious to hear how others are integrating new technologies in their creative processes. What projects or advancements have you been involved with?
How do you see the future of performance evolving with these technologies?
Looking forward to opening up a conversation and learning from the experiences of my fellow creatives.

It was a busy week at the Mozilla Festival for members of the Reach network! Two of our reach members hosted some inspiring workshops.
Slava 'Cea' Kozlov from Summ()n hosted a workshop on AI as a social facilitator, Exploring new roles for social debates and multi-stakeholder conversations.
Stby hosted a workshop with their partner Waag Futurelab on designing regenerative technologies!
It was great connecting with so many great people who are doing great things for a better world. We wait patiently for the next Mozilla Festival!
Last week was my first time to Mozilla Festival - a unique meeting of creative and technical minds with social conscience. It was such an open and generous space, brilliantly hosted by Zeina Abi Assy and J. Bob Alotta and I learnt so much from journalists, developers and policy makers who are all striving for ethical, inclusive tech innovation.
It was the perfect space for the RSC Digital team, myself and Maggie Bain to open up the conversation around live performance and the digital world, and how involving artists early on in the process of creating digital bodies will lead to more authenticity and audience connection.
Maggie Bain beautifully delivered The Strangers Case speech from Sir Thomas More which is believed to be one of the few sections in the play written by Shakespeare. It's an incredible speech and you can view the whole thing - complete with Maggie's avatar at the link below (thank you developer - Daniel Orchard).
Big thanks to Sarah Ellis, James Turnbull and Ruthie Doyle for supporting, producing and caring for the work and championing artists. And thanks also to the lovely and hardworking MozFest team.
Our session WE ARE BODIES - Co-presence and the space in between: Live Performance in the age of AI is linked in Sarah's post below.
Great take aways from our workshop participants at the Mozilla Festival reflecting on our Trees-as-Infrastructure collaboration with Landeshauptstadt Stuttgart
We currently implement Location-based Scoring in Stuttgart* to support the city assess its climate risks spatially and support the design and prioritisation of different urban #naturebasedsolutions ↳ https://lnkd.in/evfM5Sct
🌎 After our Gurden Batra kicked off with a project report, the workshop participants quickly identified even further city-sectors as combined application areas for Location-based Scoring: Think of assessing the combinatorial effects of NbS typologies in context of city-wide building and district renovation potentials. - Such wider application potential is in line with our aspirations for supporting a #justtransition where urban nature-based solutions interlink with adjacent sector transformations for combinatory effects for environmental, economic and social outcomes.
🌏 Our workshop audience also lively discussed the possible use of our Trees-as-Infrastructure Location-based Scoring for citizens to understand their own neighbourhood, its climate impact chains and nature-based solutions potentials. - Taking this idea further, we are interested in helping to shape the organizational infrastructure that also enables public-private-citizen partnerships to couple the increasing maintenance and capacity needs with public engagement and novel #financing to ensure long-term stewardship of urban nature and its multiple benefits.
*TreesAI Stuttgart is cofunded by Stuttgarter Klima-Innovationsfonds and, supported by The Nature Conservancy in the Efeu (Ivy) funding line for nature-based solutions.
