Mozilla Festival reposted this
Last week was my first time to Mozilla Festival - a unique meeting of creative and technical minds with social conscience. It was such an open and generous space, brilliantly hosted by Zeina Abi Assy and J. Bob Alotta and I learnt so much from journalists, developers and policy makers who are all striving for ethical, inclusive tech innovation. It was the perfect space for the RSC Digital team, myself and Maggie Bain to open up the conversation around live performance and the digital world, and how involving artists early on in the process of creating digital bodies will lead to more authenticity and audience connection. Maggie Bain beautifully delivered The Strangers Case speech from Sir Thomas More which is believed to be one of the few sections in the play written by Shakespeare. It's an incredible speech and you can view the whole thing - complete with Maggie's avatar at the link below (thank you developer - Daniel Orchard). Big thanks to Sarah Ellis, James Turnbull and Ruthie Doyle for supporting, producing and caring for the work and championing artists. And thanks also to the lovely and hardworking MozFest team. Our session WE ARE BODIES - Co-presence and the space in between: Live Performance in the age of AI is linked in Sarah's post below.
