Tchar was a 23rd century Skorr man, a notable political leader and hereditary prince.

Biography[]

Tchar was strong, dextrous, and charismatic, a natural-born leader. (Stardate Magazine vol. 1, Issue 3/4: "Personnel File - UFP: Tchar")

He was known as master of the Eyrie. Frustrated that his former warrior race's fervor was channeled into civilized peace through the teachings of pacifist Alar, Tchar plotted to drive his people into a frenzied war against the galaxy by stealing the Soul of Skorr, a sculpture containing Alar's brain patterns.

In the year 2270, the artifact was kept hidden in a temple on the Mad Planet. The Vedala traced it there, but three scouting parties sent to retrieve it were lost. Vedala recruited James T. Kirk, Spock, Sord, Em/3/Green, and Lara to join Tchar on the fourth expedition. Overcoming myriad geological upheavals on the surface, the team eventually broke into the temple. But Kirk suspected a saboteur, and Tchar confessed his guilt. He permitted the team to fight him fairly, in zero gravity combat. Kirk and Spock were eventually able to grab hold of Tchar and the artifact, then request recovery. (TAS episode & Log Five novelization: The Jihad)

During their battle, Tchar admitted to having accomplices. A Vedala elder said they'd be tracked down and dealt with. Tchar's personality would also be tweaked to retain bravery and pride while removing insanity. Tchar claimed that he personally did not kill anyone on the prior teams, as none had made it as far as the temple. (TAS - Log Five novelization: The Jihad)

Alternate timelines[]

In an alternate timeline beset by the temporal anomaly crisis, Tchar was pulled into the late 24th century. Tchar's skills qualified him as a thief. He was also skilled in the fields of command, engineering and security. Among the equipment he brought to bear in missions was a clear prison cube like the one he was imprisoned in by the Vedala. He could also employ the Soul of Skorr sculpture. (ST video game: Timelines)

The unofficial Concordance revealed that the Vedala successfully cured Tchar of his madness. Tchar had been a teammate on prior teams so as to sabotage their efforts.
