Aphrodite was the Greek goddess of love, beauty, and sexual desire. She was a member of a race of alien beings that visited Earth and posed as gods and shaped Greek mythology 5,000 years ago. After leaving Earth, Aphrodite traveled with the other gods to Pollux IV, where she eventually transcended physical existence.
In 2267, Apollo considered Carolyn Palamas to have the beauty and grace of Aphrodite or Athena. Later, when he transcended, he called out Aphrodite's name stating she was right in leaving the material plane. (TOS: "Who Mourns for Adonais?")
