MCreator x CurseForge ModJam 2024: Contestants

The first phase of MCreator x CurseForge ModJam is over. Contestants made the mods and now it is on us, the community, to check them out! Learn about the contestants in the article!

Almost 60 contestants

First of all, we have to say that we are amazed by the response of the community to the contest. We have received almost 60 valid mod submissions which is a lot! We can't wait to try them all out :D There have been some submissions that did not follow some of the rules of the ModJam and are therefore not included in the internal mod voting.

The first phase of the selection

Now that the submissions are closed, the CurseForge and MCreator teams will do internal voting where we will pick the top 5 contestants. The selection will be made based on mod content, complexity, quality, idea, originality, and the mod page design and quality. The selection will represent an average of the votes of all team members.

After the pick is done, we will make a public announcement here on the website and on our social channels. Then you will be able to vote for your favorite mod and the community voting will select the top 3 contestants and the winner amongst them.

Rewards

Let's remember the rewards for the ModJam winners that CurseForge will kindly provide as the sponsor of this event. The top 3 contestants (individual or teams; in the case of a team, the reward is split depending on how the team agrees internally) will get the following rewards:

  • 1st place - 1000 USD in CurseForge points + CurseForge merch
  • 2nd place - 500 USD in CurseForge points + CurseForge merch
  • 3rd place - 250 USD in CurseForge points + CurseForge merch

Try the mods out!

While we are working to rate all the submitted mods, you are welcome to try out all the mods out! Below you can find the list of all the valid submissions that will be part of the selection for the top 5 mods:

Let us know your thoughts, concerns, and reviews about the contestants in the comments below or on the mod pages! Have fun trying them out :)

The problem with this is that it makes competition dishonest. Since there is no way to check the mod's previous status as it will be in a new workspace. Imagine you launch a modjam two weeks ago and a competitor appears where all the models were already ready, all the procedures were already done, and the creator just redid the workspace. Dishonest.

Yep, this exactly happened with Goblins Tyranny mod. Luckily he wasn't allowed to participate. Anyway, I hope that even if there are dishonest contestants here, they won't end up in the top 3.

My personal favourites are:
- call-of-yucutan - (Furti_Two is as beautiful as ever),
- realm-rpg-quests-rewards - (a very deep iceberg under which many possibilities are hidden, the level of code for the Mcreator mod is very high),
- legacy-minigames-battle - (the most unusual mod of the contestants),
- aerlune-rpg - (large number of models, but weak technical part),
- burrowers - (good finished concept),
- the-quackening - (just because geese are good).

It was really really hard to choose. Looks like the competition organisers have many days of hard work ahead of them!

I think the Aerlune RPG was impossible to make in one month. i think he worked on it before the contest

We did have to eliminate some mods that were made before the contest, but we don't have any evidence for these two currently, so we are assuming they were made in the ModJam timespan

It would be extremely important if the next modjam had a theme. This would prevent mods that had already been made for months from competing with mods actually made during that period.
