Thanks again to Atsushi Mizushima and Rodolphe Ruffié-Farrugia for this insightful session on the legal challenges of lunar resources utilization - how to build up from the foundations of the OST with adaptive governance and a solid dispute resolution framework. An important topic that is too often overlooked on the commercial side of things, but nonetheless essential for the safe, sustainable and peaceful development of the cislunar economy. Big shoutout to SPACETIDE Foundation for putting #SpaceLaw on the agenda of the #SPACETIDE2024 conference!

🌌 The Unseen Drivers: Non-Space Corporations Fueling Japan's Space Industry "Spacetide-Compass Vol.9" sheds light on an often-overlooked aspect of the space sector—the significant role of non-space players in pushing the boundaries of space exploration, technology, and tourism. This involvement underscores a broader trend of cross-industry innovation and investment, vital for the sector's growth. Key takeaways include: 🛰️ Satellite Data & Space Tech Applications: Leading the charge with 40 companies invested, this segment illustrates the high demand for space-derived data across various industries, driving advancements in Earth observation, communication, and beyond. 🚀 Space Tourism/Migration & Exploration/Mining: With 38 and 32 companies engaged respectively, these areas highlight the growing interest in commercial space travel and the utilization of space resources, signaling a new era of space economy. 🌍 Launch Services & Satellite Infrastructure: With 30 and 24 companies respectively, the investment in foundational space operations showcases the commitment to enhancing access to space and the development of critical infrastructure. 🛠️ In-Orbit Services: 20 companies are venturing into this nascent field, emphasizing the importance of maintaining and extending the lifespan of space assets, which is crucial for sustainable space exploration. This data reveals a compelling narrative: non-space corporations are not merely observers but active participants and innovators in the space sector. Their diverse expertise and resources are catalyzing new ventures, technologies, and collaborations that enrich Japan's space industry ecosystem. As we navigate this exciting juncture in space exploration, let's acknowledge the invaluable contributions of these non-space players, whose visions and ventures are indispensable in charting the future of humanity's journey beyond our planet. #SpaceInnovation #CrossIndustryCollaboration #SpaceTechnology #SpaceTourism #SpaceExploration
