Forage plants grow beneath the tree canopy, providing nutritious feed for livestock. Additionally, farmers can diversify their income by harvesting tree products such as fruit, nuts, and timber. Silvopasture is particularly effective in areas prone to extreme weather. The tree canopy helps to moderate temperatures and protect animals from harsh conditions, while the diverse plant cover improves water infiltration and retention in the soil. Establishing a silvopasture system requires careful planning and management, but the rewards are significant.
