The Client

Our Client is a New York based brand incubator and accelerator, pursuing a Buy & Build strategy in Europe and the United States to achieve sustainable growth.

It is building a portfolio of brands in the personal care and beauty space, currently operating two hair focused brands and planning to acquire other brands.

The company is backed by two renowned German and US Family Offices securing the further growth of the company.

The company is now seeking to hire an strategic-minded Finance Professional to join the organization. In this position, you will play a crucial role in overseeing all financial operations (focus on EU) and driving financial strategy to support our business objectives. Your expertise in financial management, analysis, and reporting will be essential in guiding the organization's financial decisions and ensuring long-term financial stability. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of financial principles and the HGB, and the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

The Role

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization's goals and objectives.
• Financial Strategy and Planning
• Analyze financial trends, identify potential risks, and provide recommendations to the executive team.
• Collaborate with key stakeholders to establish financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.
• Financial reporting and analysis
• Prepare and present accurate financial statements, reports, and analyses to the executive team and board of directors.
• Monitor financial performance, identify areas of improvement, and propose strategies for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
• Conduct financial modeling, scenario analysis, and forecasting to support decision-making processes.
• Budgeting and Forecasting
• Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational objectives.
• Work closely with department heads to establish budget guidelines, monitor spending, and provide guidance on budget variances.
• Implement financial controls and procedures to promote transparency and accountability.
• Cash Flow Management
• Manage cash flow, including cash forecasting, working capital analysis, and liquidity management.
• Monitor and optimize cash flow processes, recommend improvements, and minimize financial risks.
• Maintain relationships with financial institutions, ensuring compliance with banking requirements.
• Financial Compliance and Risk Management
• Ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations, laws, and standards.
• Oversee internal and external financial audits and coordinate audit activities.
• Mitigate financial risks by implementing and monitoring internal controls.
• Team Leadership and Development:
• Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performing and collaborative work environment.
• Build effective cross-functional relationships to support the organization's financial goals.
• Support in M&A processes.

Requirements

• Willing to work on Site in Berlin for at least 4 days a week.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred). Strong knowledge of German/EU tax law strongly preferred. Knowledge of HGB (and US GAAP a plus).
• Proven experience in a senior finance role, preferably as a Finance Manager or Director of Finance.
• Strong knowledge of financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
• Proficient in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling.
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Advanced proficiency in financial software and systems.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
