At World Fund, we're big fans of RWTH Aachen University, therefore Daniel & I were thrilled to attend the annual #atec event last week. Awesome community with many excellent deep-tech and climate-tech start-ups! No surprise we have already invested into two #RWTH startups (aedifion & cylib), plus peopleIX & roofline in my private portfolio (via TS Ventures). The conference was great, amazing Malte Brettel, Leon Schneider & many others what a unique ecosystem you have built up here! Congratulations to all companies that made it to the final (where I was in the jury), in particular to Linda L. & Johannes (RecyCoal GmbH) for winning our 5.000 € World Fund cash prize. Well deserved! #atec2024 #VC #climatetech

We are thrilled to announce a new addition to our team: Theresah Kissmann has joined World Fund as an Executive Assistant and is part of our Berlin team 🌟 Theresah brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles at McKinsey & Company, Codefy and Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin Theresah believes that human-caused climate change is a matter of justice, as those who suffer the most from its effects are often the ones who contributed the least to the problem. Addressing climate change is not just an abstract concept but a critical effort to protect people 🌍 In her free time, Theresah loves hiking, walking her dog, baking, and planning events and surprises for her loved ones. We are excited to have you on board. Welcome Theresah 🙌

We had some great and insightful discussions at our third #ClimateTechMeetup organized together with our friends at Tech for Net Zero. Thank you Nadine Schimroszik, Handelsblatt for the moderation and to the speakers for their eye-opening insights Morgan Sheil, Arno Zimmermann, PhD and Dr. Lukas Köhler for his keynote on how we can get from millions to billions in funding climate tech. Here is our two main takeaways: ✅ Government and EU investments can bridge the funding gap by taking on higher risks, supporting early-stage projects rather than investing in them ✅ Regulations that price in environmental costs can make sustainable practices economically viable, drive the adoption of green technologies and promote fair competition Thank you as well to the team of the Future Energy Lab for hosting us 🙌 Happy to see so many of you attending! Stay tuned for the next one 🎇

This NASA visualisation has it all: It shows the CO2 emitted into the earth's atmosphere + clarifies who is responsible for the climate crisis: we, the Global North. As emitted CO2 accumulates in the atmosphere, we Europeans also for historical reasons must reduce our emissions as quickly as possible and develop climate technologies that are globally applicable. This is our mission at World Fund. The visualisation shows the four major contributors: fossil fuels in orange, burning biomass in red, land ecosystems in green, and the ocean in blue. The dots on the surface also show how atmospheric carbon dioxide is reabsorbed by land ecosystems (green) and the ocean (blue).
