It's a wrap! The Südzucker Group R&D and Innovation Conference 2024 has officially come to a close, marking a memorable 20th edition. The Central Department Research, Development & Services (CRDS) had the pleasure of spending two days with colleagues from headquarters in Mannheim and from the Südzucker Sugar, BENEO, CropEnergies AG and AGRANA Fruit divisions, as well as from the AGRANA Research & Innovation Center. The participants gained inspiring insights into topics such as innovations, agriculture and food safety interaction, the scientific effects of functional carbohydrates and prebiotic fibers, strategic views into the new business activities regarding biobased chemicals, new developments of products and processes from CRDS as well as strategic assets and developments with smart fermentation within the Südzucker Group. More than 250 participants attended both physically at the conference center and online via livestream. We are already looking forward to next year's conference and continuing our journey of innovation together. Last Friday, June 28, 2024, the Baumhainhalle at Luisenpark in Mannheim was the stage for a truly special celebration. We honored the remarkable milestones of our employees who have dedicated 25, 35, and 45 years to our company🎉 In a ceremony filled with elegance, Chako Habekost presented the awards, accompanied by the enchanting music of the La Finesse string quartet. The day was made even more special with guided tours of Luisenpark in the afternoon and a delightful barbecue party in the evening, allowing everyone to unwind and savor the moment. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the honorees for their unwavering commitment and loyalty to our company!

The countdown is officially on for our next R+D conference at Südzucker Group, happening from July 2-3! But this year is extra special as we celebrate a significant milestone: our 20th R+D conference! For two decades, our Central Department for Research, Development and Services (CRDS) has been bringing colleagues together to share their knowledge, encourage discussions and strengthen networks. We are very excited for the upcoming event and cant wait to see our over 150 colleagues from across all divisions next week and to welcome many more colleagues from across Südzucker Group online. We are excited to share our fantastic experience at this year's BAUHAUS Company Run! 🎉🏃♀️ The atmosphere was excellent from the very beginning - both among the runners and the many spectators and supporters. The Empowering Women Network (EW@) event last week marked a significant milestone in the Südzucker Group’s journey towards a more inclusive and supportive work environment. During the event, we had insightful discussions on defining clear areas of responsibility, ensuring that dedicated members know their role and can contribute effectively. But that's not all! We are working on the creation of an allocated board within the network. This board will steer our initiatives, amplify our impact, and ensure we stay true to our mission of empowering women in the workplace. A highlight of the event was the inspiring panel discussion featuring Heike Baumbach, Susan Meinl, Sylwia Dębosz, and Michelle Hampel, who shared their experiences and insights on professional development and personal growth. 🚀 A big thank you to everyone who participated and shared their valuable insights. There has been a change in Südzucker's executive board: Thomas Kölbl retired at the end of May after 20 years as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of Südzucker AG. Stephan Meeder, who was appointed to the Südzucker executive board in mid-December 2023, has taken over as CFO on 1 June 2024. Dr Meeder has been with the company since 2006 and is very familiar with the Südzucker Group. His most recent position was that of CEO and CFO of the Südzucker subsidiary CropEnergies AG. Our annual press conference took place in Mannheim today. Südzucker CEO Dr. Niels Poerksen and his Executive Board colleagues Thomas Kölbl and Stephan Meeder presented Südzucker Group's performance and the figures for the 2023/24 financial year and gave an outlook for the current financial year. Thereafter they and their fellow board member Hans-Peter Gai answered questions from media representatives. Overall, Südzucker Group had an exceptionally good financial year. ‘We can be very satisfied and proud of what we have achieved,’ said Dr Pörksen in his speech.
