That's distinguished! Two Schoeller employees are now officially SDG Scouts® in the Euskirchen district and are driving sustainability in the company What does that mean? With the multi-part workshop and training series “SDG Scouts® - businesss”, employees from all sectors have the opportunity to actively promote sustainability in their companies. The aim of the workshop is to reflect upon the 17 Sustainable Development Goals framed by the United Nations to identify effective potential for improvement in your own company and to develop your own practical project. As part of the program, our employees collected sustainability performance in the company and identified corresponding potential for improvement. Based on this, the project team defined and developed a project plan with the aim of advancing at least one of the SDGs within the company. #Environment #RenewableEnergy 🤝 This week representatives of Schoeller Werk GmbH & Co. KG from the Hellenthal production site visited us at the Monschau Center of Competence to evaluate our EcoLyzer. "Schoeller for Industry" produces stainless steel tubes for heat exchangers, solar and air conditioning technology and more. At its Hellenthal plant, Schoeller plans to introduce green hydrogen as an energy source for the production process as a step toward making the 𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗯𝗼𝗻 𝗻𝗲𝘂𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗯𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟱.  Schoeller's master plan to become carbon neutral by 2035 includes 4 steps - 💚 and we would be very happy and willing to support them as a system integrator: 1️⃣ Increasing efficiency to reduce energy consumption. 2️⃣ Substitution of fossil fuels. 3️⃣ Regenerative self-generated electricity. 4️⃣ Integration of own hydrogen hub with electrolyzer for optimized recycling management are also integral components.   On behalf of the Ecolyzer team, thank you for this great opportunity to showcase our work! 🤝 Johannes Heun, Martin Weber, Marian Jansen

Visit from the „Bundesverband Deutscher Stahlhandel“ – because a practical demonstration is far more memorable than a theoretical lecture As part of the working group of young steel traders, BDS AG - Bundesverband Deutscher Stahlhandel (Federal Association of German Steel Traders) organizes training programs for prospective steel traders in the form of workshops and company visits. This spring semester, the main topic on the agenda was tubes. As it is always nice to be able to see a key topic - in this case the production of welded tubes - live, Schoeller received a request to hold the workshop at our premises in Hellenthal at the beginning of the year. The group that visited us on June 10 consisted of almost 30 first to third-year commercial trainees in the steel trade from the Krefeld/Oberhausen/Duisburg area. As the participants' level of knowledge always varies and depends on the year of training and the company's focus, workshops held in advance by the BDS with a presentation of the most important steel products in the product range of steel traders, including types of production and applications, as well as the production of pipes and their applications, ensured that attendees could rely on basic knowledge. After a short meeting in our "Alte Schmiede" (old forge) all attendees were split into groups and headed into into production equipped with safety shoes and vests. Here, the groups received in-depth information and insights into the production process from our colleagues from Product Development and Sales. For some participants, the visit offered the opportunity to think outside the box and get to know products and processes that they are not (yet) familiar with. We would like to thank the BDS for their interest and are already looking forward to the visit in September, when we will be able to welcome employees from sales departments of BDS member companies for a factory tour as part of a BDS seminar on stainless steel and boiler tubes + tube accessories.

Country tour: political group chairwoman of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen came to visit the Eifel region Wibke Brems, political group chairman of Bündnis 90/Die Grünen in the NRW state parliament since August 2022, and Martin Metz (spokesperson for cycling, road and air traffic) went on a tour of rural areas in the Euskirchen district last Thursday. The aim of the tour was to look at new ideas, concepts and implemented projects that provide suggestions and answers to the questions and challenges in rural areas. Stop-off point on the tour: Schoeller. The targeted transformation process in the production of stainless steel tubes is a topic that Ms. Brems would like to take a closer look at. The production tour with the management and the Head of Technology therefore offered the ideal opportunity to ask any open questions on the subject and to obtain in-depth information on the process.

Educational cooperation: FocusRostfrei and Schoeller celebrate another successful ROHR seminar! 🤝   This year's FocusRostfrei ROHR Seminar from 3 to 5 June 2024 in Hellenthal and Steinfeld was once again about “all things” stainless steel tubes: It dealt comprehensively with market-influencing topics such as manufacturing processes and standardization, materials and corrosion, areas of application & success stories with stainless steel (tubes) as well as the current market situation with regard to growth, trends and volumes.   Katharina Kreus from the product development department at Schoeller provided the participants with an overview of welded and redrawn stainless steel tubes, their manufacturing and welding processes as well as the testing of the tubes (TC1/TC2/AD W2) and documentation of the scope of testing (WAZ). Afterwards, the factory tour provided the ideal environment to see the theoretical content in action.   In addition to the exciting expert presentations, the three extensive seminar days also provided ample opportunity to make new contacts during the lunch breaks or the joint evening meal and thus expand one's own network or let the newly acquired knowledge sink in.   We would like to say a big thank you to all participants, Wolfgang Lipp (SMR Group - Steel & Metals Market Intelligence), Stefan Müller-Bernhardt and Verlag Focus Rostfrei GmbH for the inspiring discussions and intensive exchange!

A nice occasion for a relaxed gathering: on May 16th, we celebrated our first employee anniversary event of 2024, where we thanked 14 employees for their long-standing loyalty to Schoeller. We honored 10 colleagues for their impressive 40 years with us, and 4 more for being an integral part of our team for 25 years. Management, Director HR, and the works council were present to hand over the anniversary certificates. In addition to sharing memories and anecdotes from daily life at Schoeller, the celebration provided an opportunity for a cozy get-together with a delicious three-course meal. Schoeller positions itself for the hydrogen economy: TÜV SÜD issues Schoeller “Material Compatibility for Pressurized Hydrogen” certification without additional requirements and adjustments As base material for power-to-X processes, Hydrogen will be used in fuel cells or hydrogen combustion engines, but also in industrial applications ranging from electrolyzers and heat exchangers to large-scale production plants, e.g. to produce basic chemicals such as green ammonia or green methanol. All systems and components used in the application of green hydrogen require hydrogen-resistant properties, making stainless steel tubes a key player, as they are used along the entire process and energy chain. TÜV Süd has now confirmed that the material and tube portfolio of Schoeller, the premium manufacturer from Hellenthal, fully complies with the newly developed standard for "material compatibility for pressurized hydrogen". Both longitudinally welded and redrawn stainless steel tubes made from materials 1.4401, 14404 and 1.4435 have been certified, meaning that both tube versions are approved for low-pressure applications, e.g. for industrial applications, as well as for high-pressure applications up to 875 bar, such as those found in the automotive sector.
